The Visual Merchandising Director leads the development and execution of visual merchandising strategies to create compelling, cohesive, and elevated environments across multiple retail locations and event spaces. This role blends creative vision with hands-on execution, requiring strong spatial awareness and expertise in translating creative direction into impactful physical presentations that enhance product displays, store layout, flow, and special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies and standards across physical spaces.
  • Design visually compelling presentations that elevate the customer and brand experience.
  • Apply expertise in scale, proportion, color, composition, balance, and spatial relationships to merchandising.
  • Lead installations, resets, product transitions, and ongoing visual updates across multiple locations.
  • Manage visual merchandising projects, timelines, priorities, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain visual standards and consistency in various retail and event environments.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a small to medium-sized visual merchandising team (1-15 members).
  • Take a hands-on approach by actively participating in physical execution of visual setups when necessary.
  • Regularly assess visual presentations for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate travel and logistics for frequent visits to multiple retail and pop-up/event locations.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive visual merchandising experience with expertise in product displays and store layout.
  • Proven experience managing visual merchandising projects, installations, and teams.
  • Strong aesthetic eye with excellent knowledge of scale, proportion, color, composition, and spatial relationships.
  • Ability to visualize cohesive product presentations within larger physical environments.
