Sr. Design Specialist - Modesto, CA
Job Summary:
The Sr. Design Specialist supports the design, layout, and visual planning of new grocery store locations, remodels and special projects. This role ensures that all store environments reflect the company's brand, operational standards, and customer experience goals, while incorporating functionality, aesthetics, and cost-efficiency.
Responsibilities:
  • Update and maintain division prototypical drawings and files using AutoCad
  • Identify and document props, furniture, hardware and lighting using subject matter expertise in design methodologies
  • Use artistic skills or computer-aided design (CAD) packages to create visuals and plans.
  • Translate leadership concepts and ideas into the creation and direction of all corporate & vendor fixturing programs. Research and recommend innovations in layout, fixture design, sustainability, and customer experience relevant to the grocery industry.
  • Provide support to resolve and respond to team members' and store issues regarding design and presentation issues

Hiring pay range: $70,145.00 - 83,297.00
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand architectural and shop drawings
  • Basic understanding of building codes
  • Familiarity with brand guidelines for core footprints, fixture specifications, floor plans & layouts for each banner
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising concepts
  • Experience in format development, preferably across banners and store formats
  • Knowledge of design, finishes and materials
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously under time constraints
  • Handles change, deals well with ambiguity, and able to adapt quickly in a nimble environment
  • Ability to resolve service issues promptly
  • Problem-solving and fact-finding skills
  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office

Experience: 5 minimum years of related experience
Education: 4 year/Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training in Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Design, or related field preferred
Other Requirements: 10% travel to grocery store
