The responsibilities of a visual arts teacher include teaching drawing, painting, and color theory to groups of students in a school or art studio, in which you provide private lessons. In this career, you create an exciting and creative learning environment and demonstrate your own creative skills and artistic techniques to aid in your students’ learning process. You are expected to either follow a preset curriculum or develop your own lesson plan using various art resources from drawing, painting, graphic arts, and 2D/3D media. Other duties include working with school management to establish student and faculty art exhibitions. You are expected to be involved in the local art community, develop relationships with local and visiting artists, and continue developing your artistic abilities.
