Visitor Center Work Study Student - Rotational

What you will do:
The Work Study program pays for two years of tuition at the Tillamook Bay Community College, while the colleague is employed in the role and in good standing
Work Study Students are courteous, helpful, enthusiastic individuals with extraordinary guest service skills. Work Study Students support in the Creamery's daily operations in multiple departments. Work Study Students will rotate between the following departments: Ice Cream, Retail, Warehouse, Brand Ambassador, Culinary and Front of House (FOH) Cafรฉ. Students will assist guests in a fast-paced environment. Students will foster positive working relationships with all internal and external vendors, customers, coworkers, and management. VC Students maintain Tillamook's Shared Values, creating a world-class guest experience to the one million guests that visit annually.
The Work Study Student position requires a two-year commitment. This position offers a unique work experience. Students gain experience in all departments of hospitality operations at the Tillamook Creamery Visitor Center.
Here's a day in life:
Departments: Ice Cream, Cafรฉ/Culinary
  • Carry orders out to customers in dining area, projecting a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Keep cafรฉ work areas sanitary. Learn daily dish room procedures. Assist with bussing and maintaining dining room.
  • Perform opening/closing procedures when scheduled for that shift.
  • Serve guests by taking orders on POS system. Take guest payment, make change correctly and maintain an accurate cash drawer.
  • Assist the cooks in the kitchen with prep, set up, stocking and any other chores needed in preparing customer's orders.
  • Scoop and serve ice cream following portion and quality standards. Prepare waffle batter cones.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Department: Warehouse, Retail
  • Collect and move all merchandise from warehouse receiving to pricing area. Process and inspect all merchandise for quality, damage and/or breakage and shortages.
  • Assist in pricing merchandise and unloading warehouse orders by removing boxes filled with merchandise from pallets and properly storing on assigned shelves.
  • Ring up items at the cash register. Provide accurate, efficient, and friendly customer service by assisting guests. Assist with stocking shelves. Straighten and clean all merchandise displays and counter areas.
  • Work cheese sampling counter- performing cheese cutting and maintaining a clean area.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Department: Brand Ambassador
  • Be present throughout the Creamery to greet guests, give directions, assist with traffic flow, and answer questions about our company, cheese making process, products, and brand.
  • Solve guest service problems and complaints as needed, in absence of managers
  • Greet and provide world-class guest experience to group tours, school groups, perform step-on and virtual presentations as requested.
  • Coordinating and updating a Brand Experience Calendar as well as actively enrolling attendees to experiences.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.
