Their appointments typically last from one semester to a few years, and they may be brought in to offer fresh perspectives, cover for faculty on leave, or enhance the institution's literary offerings. Visiting Professors often contribute to the academic community by participating in readings, events, and collaborative projects, while also continuing their own writing and research.

As a Visiting Professor in Creative Writing, you’ll actively collaborate with full-time faculty by co-developing course syllabi, participating in departmental meetings, and sometimes co-hosting workshops or literary events. You’ll also mentor students through one-on-one feedback sessions, group workshops, and possibly advising on thesis projects. While your position is temporary, you’re encouraged to contribute your unique expertise and creative perspective, fostering a dynamic learning environment and expanding the department’s offerings.
