Position summary:
The role is envisioned as a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an appointment in the School of Medicine and/or another School and Department relevant to the candidates experience and expertise The salary range is 90K to 100K, with actual salary dependent on past work experience. The successful candidate will work full time with the bioethics and non-bioethics faculty in the Center for Ethics. The primary responsibilities of this on-campus position will involve teaching at the graduate and healthcare professional level (medicine, nursing, etc.), publishing research, and providing service to and/or developing programming for the Center, Emory University, and the greater community. The Center welcomes applicants with wide-ranging scholarly interests in bioethics, especially clinical ethics, the ethics of AI in health contexts, neuroethics, research ethics, and/or ethics of health disparities.
There is no requirement for extramural funding for this position, but the Center supports the development of externally funded scholarship and encourages applications from those able and interested in securing extramural funding.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching ethics and bioethical issues in an integrated curriculum in the School of Medicine
- Teaching core and elective courses in the Master of Arts (MA) in Bioethics
- Advising and mentoring MA in Bioethics graduate students and thesis/capstone projects
- Pursuing independent and collaborative scholarship
Successful candidates will have:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience and comfort in working in both in person and online settings
- Commitment to collaboration with colleagues at the Center for Ethics, across the university and in the community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal post-graduate degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) in a field related to bioethics
- Demonstrated success in teaching and mentoring healthcare professionals and/orgraduate students
- Record of quality scholarship in bioethics

- Cover letter addressed to the search committee that explains why you are interested in this role, what makes you well-suited to meet the responsibilities associated with the position, and how you understand and approach your field(s) of expertise
- Research writing sample
- Statement of teaching philosophy (ideally accompanied by teaching evaluations)
- Names and contact information for three references, including those who can speak to your teaching and research. (Letters will be requested for candidates advancing to a second round of consideration.)
The search committee will start reviewing applications on 10/13/25.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.
