Summary

Designs, implements, and maintains virtualization and storage infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability across on-premises and cloud environments.


Key responsibilities

· Architect, deploy, and manage VMware and Horizon virtualization platforms

· Design, install, and maintain storage systems (SAN, NAS, SDS) including arrays from vendors such as Dell EMC and NetApp

· Build and manage host/storage connectivity: iSCSI, FC, NFS, SMB; configure multipathing and zoning.

· Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, provisioning, and lifecycle management for compute and storage.

· Manage backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions using Veeam and Rubrik.

· Create and maintain automation and IaC for deployments and operations (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform).

· Monitor health and capacity; troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

· Maintain security hardening, patching, and compliance for virtualization and storage layers.

· Collaborate with application, network, and cloud teams to integrate platforms and support migrations to cloud or hybrid models.

· Produce runbooks, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation; provide on-call support and escalate as needed.

· Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for platform improvements and cost optimization.


Requirements:

Required qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

· 3+ years experience managing virtualization and enterprise storage environments.

· Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/vCenter (design & troubleshooting).

· Experience with SAN/NAS architectures, storage provisioning, and data services.

· Strong Linux and Windows server administration skills.

· Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform).

· Familiarity with backup/DR solutions and storage replication technologies.

· Good understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, TCP/IP, MTU, LACP).


Preferred qualifications

· Certifications: VCP, VMware VCAP, NetApp NCDA/NS0-xxxx, Dell EMC Proven Professional, or equivalent.

· Experience with cloud virtualization and storage (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.

· Knowledge of software-defined storage (vSAN, Ceph, Portworx) and hyperconverged infrastructure.

· Experience with observability tools and capacity forecasting.
