Venatôre has an immediate opening for a Virtualization / VMware Administrator supporting USCENTCOM at their HQ on MacDill AFB. This position is based in Tampa, Florida. The Virtualization / VMware Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise virtualization infrastructure with a primary focus on VMware technologies. This role supports mission-critical operations by managing virtualized server, desktop, storage, and networking environments while ensuring system performance, availability, security, and scalability. The position works closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams to deliver reliable virtualization solutions aligned with USCENTCOM mission requirements. Responsibilities VMware Infrastructure Administration * Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple physical locations.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities to ensure infrastructure stability and security.
  • Monitor virtualization platform performance, resource utilization, and system health to maintain optimal operations.
  • Manage and optimize VMware technologies, including vSphere, vSAN, and vSphere Networking.
  • Implement and administer VMware distributed switches, VLANs, and related networking components.
System Performance & Troubleshooting * Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware virtualization technologies, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, storage concerns, and virtual machine operations.
  • Analyze system metrics and recommend improvements to enhance performance, efficiency, and availability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Infrastructure Design & Integration * Support the design and implementation of virtualization solutions that align with enterprise and command requirements.
  • Collaborate with network, systems, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to integrate virtualization technologies into broader infrastructure initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging VMware technologies and recommend enhancements to improve operational effectiveness.
Backup, Recovery & Security * Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual infrastructure components.
  • Ensure virtualization environments comply with applicable security policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support security initiatives designed to improve the protection and resilience of virtualized environments.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer * Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational guides.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing to junior administrators and team members.
  • Support training efforts to increase organizational understanding of virtualization technologies.
Vendor & Project Support * Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting, support, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in infrastructure modernization and enhancement projects.
  • Support initiatives focused on improving system capability, operational efficiency, and mission readiness.
Required Qualifications * Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting VMware vSphere environments.
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere Networking.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, architecture, and best practices.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise virtual infrastructure environments.
  • Ability to create, review, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% annually to OCONUS locations in support of USCENTCOM exercises.
Preferred Qualifications * VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certification.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Experience using automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI.
  • Experience supporting USCENTCOM or familiarity with its mission and operational environment.
  • Experience with VMware vRealize Orchestration (vRO).
  • Experience with VMware vRealize Automation (vRA).
  • Experience with vROps Management Pack.
  • Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
  • Experience with VMware NSX.
  • Scripting and software development experience.
  • Experience integrating and working with REST APIs.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or government virtualization environments.
