Healthy Mind and Wellness Counseling Clinic is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and families. This full-time position allows you to work remotely, providing essential therapeutic services to some of the most vulnerable segments of our community. You will be a vital part of our efforts to bring support and healing to children with developmental disabilities and their families, enhancing their quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions in the home environment of clients or group sessions at our outpatient center, focusing on personalized treatment goals.
  • Implement anger management techniques, coping strategies, and social skills training with a focus on reducing high-risk behaviors, including self-injurious behavior and physical aggression.
  • Assist families in improving their decision-making abilities to better manage behavioral challenges at home, equipping them with practical tools and strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Child Family Treatment Team, ensuring consistent communication with other professionals to maintain comprehensive support for families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings to share insights and recommendations, fostering a collaborative environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will serve a diverse population of children ages 3 to 20 who are affected by developmental and intellectual disabilities. Many of these children experience significant emotional and behavioral challenges, necessitating tailored therapeutic interventions to address their unique needs. You will work closely with family members and caregivers, guiding them through their complexities and helping them to foster a nurturing home environment.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license is essential for this position.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (4-7 PM), with additional weekend hours being a plus.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle for traveling to client homes.
  • Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in providing positive behavior support and interventions tailored to the needs of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Prior work experience with children aged 3-20, particularly those facing extensive behavioral challenges.
  • Bilingual capabilities in Spanish or Portuguese are highly desired to better serve the community.
