Job Summary:
The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity for an Abdominal Imaging and Intervention Radiologist to support the Department of Radiology in the Abdominal Imaging section.
  • This position is full or part-time (80-100%)
  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
  • Applicants who are interested in pursuing an academic career in the Abdominal Imaging and Intervention section will be considered for the titles Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Clinical Assistant Professor (CT), Clinical Associate Professor (CT) or Clinical Professor (CT). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:
CHS Track - The duties under the CHS track include clinical, teaching, and academic duties. Clinical duties will take place in the Abdominal Imaging and Intervention section and will include the following ultrasound, intra-operative ultrasound, ultrasound guided procedures, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), computed tomography (CT) guided procedures, virtual colonoscopy (VC), and gastrointestinal/ genitourinary (GI/ GU) imaging. Teaching and clinical research is required. Departmental teaching assignments include medical students, residents, fellows, and other department trainees as appropriate.
CT Track - The duties under the CT Track include complementing our Abdominal Imaging and Intervention section, but also a willingness to interact closely with our ordering providers during clinical work. Collaboration and teamwork are valued qualities in our team practice.

The UW Department of Radiology consists of more than 165 faculty across 13 sections, reading over 1,000,000 diagnostic scans per year. We train more than 50 residents and fellows per year and have an extensive presence throughout the medical student curriculum.

Madison's technology economy is growing rapidly, and the region is home to the headquarters of Epic Systems, Exact Sciences, Sub-Zero, and Land's End, as well as many biotech, healthcare IT, and health systems startups. In the Fall of 2023, Wisconsin was designated as a Tech Hub by the Economic Development Administration (EDA), which resulted in a grant award of up to $75 million to help accelerate growth of the state's bio health industry. Phase 2 of the Wisconsin Biotech hub was announced in July 2024, resulting in $49 million in additional funding to help drive transformative medical innovation, workforce development and critical job growth across Wisconsin. One of the three technology projects of this proposal is the Wisconsin Health Data Hub, led by researchers from the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health.

The city is within easy driving range of Chicago and Milwaukee. Madison is home to one of the strongest local food scenes in the country. Compensation:
Negotiable, 12 month

Required Qualifications:
  • WI medical license by start date of position.
  • Board certified-board or board-eligible by American Board of Radiology (ABR) by start date of position.
  • Completion of fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging or equivalent experience is required by start date of position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CHS/ CT: For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.

Education:
MD, DO, or equivalent required by start date of position.
