Online ESL Teacher (Remote)

Anywhere in the U.S. (excluding Pacific Time Zone) | M-F, flexible schedule aligned to student needs | Fully Remote | Starting at $24.46/hr (W-2)

Note: We are currently not accepting applicants from the Pacific Time Zone due to live engagement requirements during Eastern Standard Time.

Do you have a passion for supporting English learners and tailoring instruction to their individual needs - all from your home office? At My Virtual Academy, we're looking for an Online ESL Teacher to join our Virtual English Language Instruction Program and help K-12 students find their voice in a new language and a new learning environment.

About Us

My Virtual Academy has been transforming virtual education since 1991. We provide tuition-free, personalized online learning to students across Michigan - from kindergarten to young adults.
Our mission: Remove barriers, empower learners, and support students with the tools and flexibility they need to succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Provide pull-out English Language Development (ELD) instruction based on WIDA assessment results
  • Create and maintain a consistent online schedule that accommodates student needs and learning levels
  • Customize lesson plans to fit varied learning styles and paces
  • Track and evaluate student progress, preparing clear and timely reports
  • Support students with basic tech troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with educational teams while remaining culturally responsive
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Certification Requirements (Don't Skip!)

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a valid teaching certificate with an ESL endorsement
    • Either a Michigan Teaching Certificate with ESL Endorsement (NS)
    • OR an ESL-endorsed certificate from another state and be willing to obtain a Michigan Teaching Certificate with ESL Endorsement within 60 days of hire
  • We cannot consider candidates who do not hold an ESL endorsement

Who You Are

  • Experienced in teaching English Learners (virtually is a major plus!)
  • Tech-comfortable and flexible with online tools and video conferencing
  • Culturally sensitive, collaborative, and organized
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Not located in the Pacific Time Zone
