Job description

FEV is seeking an Engineer Assistant in the field virtual development for engines, hybrid and fuel cell powertrains. FEV offers interested students the opportunity to work in highly motivated engineering teams. Each engineering assistant is part of a team, receives project tasks and responsibilities within the team, participates in internal FEV training and experience sharing activities, is mentored and supervised by an experienced project engineer. Because of the complexity of the tasks encountered in the daily job, FEV internship duration will be 4 months to 1 year.
Requirements
  • Post process and analyze 1D/3D simulation output data
  • Assist FEV engineers in following activities:
    • 1D model-based engine and aftertreatment system development
    • 1D model-based vehicle propulsion and thermal system development
    • 3D CFD analysis of engine combustion system
    • 3D CFD analysis of battery, motor and inverter cooling system
  • Assist in internal/external presentation preparation
  • Assist in XiL testing to verify and validate the control functions

Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in any 1D/3D simulation tool (E.g. Simulink, GT-SUITE, StarCCM+, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of internal combustion engines, electric motors, batteries and fuel cells
  • Basic understanding of automotive control systems
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and drawings
  • Must be a motivated team player to perform in fast paced development environment
  • Good communicator (oral and written), organized, and mindful of time management

Preferred Experience:
• Working knowledge of at least one 1D/3D thermodynamic analysis tool (GT-SUITE, Amesim, Converge, StarCCM+, Ansys or similar)
• 1D/3D modeling experience of engine combustion system, engine air system, aftertreatment system, batteries, electric motors, fuel cell systems, propulsion and thermal systems
• Knowledge of electronic control systems, sensors and actuators in the electrified powertrain
