While both Virtual Stylists and Personal Shoppers assist clients with fashion needs, Virtual Stylists focus on providing styling advice and wardrobe consultations remotely, whereas Personal Shoppers primarily help clients select and purchase clothing either in-store or online. Both roles require fashion knowledge and excellent customer service skills, but their work environments and client interactions differ.

What is a virtual stylist?

A Virtual Stylist is a fashion professional who provides styling advice and outfit recommendations to clients through online platforms, rather than in-person consultations. They use video calls, chat, or specialized apps to assess clients' needs, preferences, and wardrobe, and then suggest clothing and accessories that suit their style and body type. Virtual Stylists often work with individuals looking for a wardrobe refresh, special event styling, or ongoing fashion guidance. Their services can include personalized shopping suggestions, style boards, and direct links to purchase recommended items.

How do virtual stylists typically collaborate with clients and other team members?

Virtual Stylists often work closely with clients through video consultations, online chat, or curated digital lookbooks to understand their preferences, body types, and style goals. They also collaborate with merchandising teams to stay updated on inventory and trends, and may coordinate with photographers or social media teams for content creation. Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills are key, as stylists must balance client needs with brand guidelines. This collaborative approach ensures clients receive tailored fashion advice and enhances overall customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual stylist?

To thrive as a Virtual Stylist, you need a solid understanding of fashion trends, color theory, and body types, often supported by a background in fashion or retail. Familiarity with virtual styling platforms, e-commerce systems, and digital communication tools is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and the ability to listen deeply to client needs set standout stylists apart. These skills ensure clients receive personalized, practical style advice and an engaging, seamless online experience.

What does a virtual stylist do?

A virtual stylist works from home to assist others one on one with styling. You talk with clients via text and video conferences to learn about their personality, style, and fashion needs. You must be a little tech savvy and have a good background in fashion. Finding what your client likes is more important than what you want, but you provide guidance on popular trends. You also offer personal shopping for customers including clothing, shoes, and accessories. You provide input on new and current pieces, make quick decisions, and provide styling recommendations for everyday wardrobes and special events. It is essential that a virtual stylist knows how to interact and communicate effectively with clients. You might work with someone for one session, or build a long-term relationship.

This role is an execution-focused project leader responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of Empire's residential projects-from design coordination and budgeting to scheduling, quality control, installation, and closeout. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-driven, and skilled at anticipating issues before they become blockers, ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to Empire's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Schedule Management

  • Build and manage project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met.

  • Track expenditures throughout the project lifecycle and report variances or cost risks.
  • Ensure all decisions align with the approved budget and financial objectives.

Design Management

  • Ensure timely delivery of all design outputs.
  • Translate client direction (via the Marketing Rep) into clear, actionable guidance for the design team.

Client Liaison (Execution-Level)
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for project execution-specific communication.
  • Ensure client feedback is accurately captured and communicated internally.
  • Support the Marketing Rep, who maintains overall client relationship ownership, by providing timely project updates and addressing execution-related questions.

Procurement & Order Management
  • Confirm that all product orders align with approved designs and budgets.
  • Monitor order timelines, shipping updates, and product availability to prevent project delays.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy and readiness.

Installation Coordination
  • Ensure installation teams receive complete, accurate information and are prepared for on-site execution.
  • Provide real-time problem-solving during install and ensure projects are delivered according to plan.

Quality Control & Project Closeout
  • Implement rigorous quality control checkpoints across design, procurement, and installation phases.
  • Conduct post-install virtual walkthroughs (with stylist or install team as needed) to ensure final product meets Empire and client standards.
  • Oversee project closeout, ensuring punch lists, documentation, and reporting are completed accurately and promptly.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, reduce delays, and elevate project quality.
  • Provide structured feedback to internal teams to support ongoing operational and design improvements.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within the residential construction, design, or real estate industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and client management skills with a customer-first mentality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, including designers and procurement agents.
  • Strategic problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for process improvement.
