Job description

Position Summary 

Coordinates the schedule and efforts of the Central Sterile Processing Techs. Trains and mentors CSPD Techs. Provides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed. Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision.

  • Decontaminates, cleans and processes items according to established standards.
  • Utilizes equipment in the sterile processing environment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Inspects and correctly assembles instrument trays replacing broken or lost instruments as needed.
  • Coordinates the schedule and efforts of the Central Sterile Processing Techs. Trains and mentors CSPDTechs.
  • Performs sterility assurance testing to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Completes documentation of the sterilization process accurately to meet regulatory standards and provide tracking mechanisms.
  • Complete documentation of sterilization process accurately and institutes appropriate measures in the event of an unusual occurrence.
  • Implements appropriate measures in the event of an unusual occurrence.
  • Maintains a safe working environment in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Prioritizes assigned duties according to deadlines.
