Paramedic
Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Variable Shifts
Emergency Medical Services Overview:
Covenant Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ensures rapid response with specially trained personnel and a fleet of vehicles that are equipped with cutting-edge technology. The Covenant Health EMS team improves patient care and outcomes, supports post-discharge planning, and enhances community engagement. Working closely with all Covenant medical centers as well as several non-Covenant facilities, our EMS team ensures that advanced-level transport options are available when needed.
Position Summary:
The Community/Mobile Integrated Health (CP/MIH) Paramedic functions within Covenant Health Mobile-Integrated Health Programs and the Covenant Health EMS System. The primary roles are acting as a member of the MIH team for Hospital-at-Home patients. In this, the community paramedic is dispatched to set up and evaluate the patient in their "hospital room" in the privacy of their own home. This involves establishing remote monitoring technology, conducting physical assessments, medication reconciliation, assisting with medication administration, working in collaboration with an RN (who functions as the patients' primary nurse) and provider team (that is responsible for the ongoing oversight and care of the patient), serving as their hands, eyes, and ears
Responsibilities
  • Works hand-in-hand with a virtual RN to manage the care of patients in their homes as part of the Hospital-at-Home program.
  • Communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including other MIH team members, management, and outside agencies.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with the network of partners that make this possible including patients, their families, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and others as needed.
  • Ensure Patient Care Reports (PCRs) and other documentation is complete and timely, as per company policy.
  • Manages all aspects of CP/MIH vehicles and clinical equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains vehicles and facilities daily.
  • Manages supply inventory and ensures the team has adequate supplies on-hand to successfully conduct operations. Ensures daily narcotic logs are in order and vehicle checks (on-board supplies/equip.) are completed.
  • Facilitates scheduling needs, equipment and supply maintenance, and other daily operational support functions as assigned by the CP/MIH Manager. (Supply counts, vehicle maintenance/record keeping, making a schedule, etc.)
  • Support other programs and divisions within the Covenant EMS System, including acting as the primary (attending) provider for transports with the Covenant Health EMS interfacility transport system.
  • Remains up-to-date on all regulatory training (clinical, non-clinical, CME, etc.) and ensures that all certifications are uploaded into the appropriate systems. Coordinates and works with the CP/MIH Manager and/or EMS Medical Director to develop specific and deliberate training plans as needed.
  • Prepares reports and manages projects as assigned by the CP/MIH Manager.
  • Works with CP/MIH Manager and/or EMS Medical Director to ensure all lab compliance rules are adhered to (i.e., CLIA, etc.).
  • Coordinates with CP/MIH Manager, the EMS Director and the Covenant Health IT Team to facilitate and manage all aspects of IT including, but not limited to, computer maintenance and any and all pertinent systems account setup for team members.
  • Responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal employment laws (i.e., Americans with Disability Act, Affirmative Action Plan, etc.).
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years full time experience as a paramedic or experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain a TN Paramedic license OR a valid, unrestricted license in any Compact Member state. In addition, must have and maintain a TN Critical Care Paramedic certification and a TN Community Paramedic Certification. ACLS and BLS Required. Employee must have a valid driver's license and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
