Position SummaryAbout the LibraryThe Pima Community College Library empowers our patrons to achieve their academic and life goals by providing research support, instruction, collections and spaces for intellectual exploration. We serve the College's diverse learning community through five campus libraries and an extensive online presence.
About the PositionPima Community College Library is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered Educational Support Faculty Librarian. The successful candidate will focus on designing and delivering virtual research services, embedded online instruction, and digital learning content that supports social science programs and online learners in all disciplines. They will design and deliver workshops, tutorials or other learning modules that teach students to use AI tools efficiently while critically evaluating ethical risks.
Library Faculty work a flexible schedule of 169 days (9 months) over a nine-month period, July through June, and may include day, evening and weekend duties to meet student needs.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging and accessible information literacy instruction aligned with the ACRL Framework, primarily tailored for online social sciences courses and programs.
- Serve as an embedded librarian in courses via D2L Brightspace LMS, offering research and instructional support.
- Provide reference and research consultations, primarily but not exclusively, through chat, video conferencing, and asynchronous modes.
- Develop and maintain online learning objects such as tutorials, guides, and videos to support independent student learning.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and instruction into curriculum and course shells.
- Participate in the development and curation of digital collections, including open educational resources and other materials.
- Assess user needs and learning outcomes for online library services and instruction using UX principles and continuous quality improvement strategies.
- Promote library services and resources to online learners through outreach initiatives, social media, and college-wide collaborations.
- Contribute to strategic planning to ensure the library meets the evolving needs of distance and online students.
- Maintain professional expertise in librarianship, instructional technology, DEIA best practices, and distance learning trends.
- Serve on department and college-wide committees and participate in professional development activities.
Job Requirements/Qualifications- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in library and information science.
The selected candidate will:- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed to meet student needs.
- Support students in fully online, hybrid, and remote modalities.
- Work on site- not remote- a minimum of 60% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience providing library services to distance learners and/or social science programs.
- Experience with online instruction and instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in an academic library setting.
- Experience assessing online library instruction and services.
- Working knowledge of core AI concepts and familiarity with machine learning frameworks.
- Experience applying AI methods in research, data analysis, or instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and deliver AI literacy programming that empowers students to use generative tools critically, ethically, and effectively.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- A strong understanding of information literacy instruction and experience in delivering information literacy instruction online.
- Familiarity with social sciences research methods and information sources.
- Experience with instructional design and learning management systems, particularly for embedding library content and tools.
- Competency in developing inclusive learning environments for diverse online student populations.
- Proficiency in virtual reference services and creation of asynchronous instructional materials.
- Awareness of the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility guidelines such as ADA, Section 504/508, and WCAG.
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Applicants currently in progress for a degree or additional coursework to meet the minimum qualifications must have the degree conferred and/or coursework completed by May 2026.

Selection Process:The selection process typically consists of one or two advisory group interview(s), a teaching demonstration, and an administrative interview.
