About Bat Conservation International

At Bat Conservation International (BCI), we're working to conserve the world’s bats and their habitats to ensure a healthy planet, through science, conservation, restoration, and collaboration. Every member of our team contributes to protecting biodiversity and creating healthier ecosystems for future generations.

If you're looking for meaningful work where your expertise can help inspire conservation and drive lasting impact, this role might be right for you.

About the Role

The Brand & Content Manager serves as BCI's editorial lead, shaping how we tell the stories of our science, conservation, and impact. The person in this role will develop compelling, audience-centered content that inspires supporters, engages donors, and strengthens the BCI brand across every public-facing channel.

Working closely with colleagues across Marketing & Communications, Philanthropy, and Conservation, you'll ensure our voice is consistent, our storytelling is engaging, and our content reflects the quality and impact of our mission.

What You’ll Do

As our Brand & Content Manager, you will:

  • Lead BCI's editorial strategy, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, messaging, and quality across all communications.
  • Create and produce compelling content across web, email, social media, video, publications, and print.
  • Work with experts to turn complex scientific and conservation work into engaging, accessible stories, tailored to a wide range of audiences.
  • Manage the editorial calendar and oversee content planning, workflows, approvals, and production schedules.
  • Serve as Managing Editor for BATS Magazine, the Annual Report, and other major organizational publications.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Digital Strategy, Philanthropy, and Conservation teams to support campaigns, fundraising, and audience engagement.
  • Manage the organization's Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to ensure content and creative assets are organized and easily accessible.
  • Apply SEO and digital content best practices to improve content visibility and audience reach.

Responsibilities may evolve as organizational priorities and conservation initiatives grow.

What You Bring Required Qualifications
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and audiences.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience leading editorial planning and managing content production from concept through publication.
  • Ability to translate factual information into engaging, compelling, public-facing stories about our work.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and digital asset management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to editorial quality and consistency.
Preferred Qualifications

We're especially interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience working for a nonprofit, conservation, science, or mission-driven organization.
  • Experience managing long-form publications, magazines, or annual reports.
  • Knowledge of digital content strategy, audience engagement, and content performance analytics.
Don't meet every qualification?

Research shows many qualified candidates hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. If you're excited about this opportunity and believe you can contribute, we encourage you to apply.

Work Environment
  • This position is remote and requires regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple departments in a virtual environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support organizational events, conservation initiatives, content creation, or team meetings.
Why Join Bat Conservation International?

When you join BCI, you're joining a mission-driven organization committed to both conservation and people. We offer a competitive total rewards package and a collaborative culture that supports employee well-being, professional growth, and work-life balance.

Our benefits include, but are not limited to:
  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Professional development and learning opportunities
  • Flexible work arrangements, where applicable
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture
