Role Description
Lead the future of rare disease at LEO Pharma.
Shape the strategy, performance, and evolution of our US rare disease business, driving results today while building the field organization and capabilities needed to support the next chapter of growth across the portfolio.
Your Role:
As Head of Sales, Rare Disease, you will lead the US rare disease sales organization and deliver excellent field execution across the rare disease portfolio: maximizing performance of Spevigo for GPP in the current indication while building field launch readiness for a new rare disease program in the pre-launch phase, with anticipated launch next year. The Head of Sales leads and develops 5 Regional Associate Directors and, through them, 33 Rare Disease Sales Consultants, and serves on the Rare Disease Leadership Team. The role translates brand strategy into field action in close partnership with marketing, market access, medical affairs, sales operations and training, and instills a high-performance, highly compliant, patient-centric culture suited to rare disease communities, where every interaction and every patient matters.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Regional Associate Directors and Rare Disease Sales Consultants.
  • Deliver sales performance across the rare disease portfolio, maximizing the success of Spevigo® in GPP while preparing for the launch of a new rare disease program.
  • Lead field launch readiness, including territory design, deployment, targeting, training, and execution planning.
  • Drive sales force effectiveness through performance management, field KPIs, incentive compensation, analytics, and CRM utilization.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to translate strategy into exceptional field execution.
  • Analyze market dynamics and field performance to inform strategy and optimize results.
  • Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders, treating institutions, and professional communities.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, accountability, and patient-centricity across the organization.
  • Contribute to portfolio strategy, business planning, forecasting, and resource allocation as a member of the Rare Disease Leadership Team.

Your Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 12 plus years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience, including 8 plus years of sales leadership; previous second-line leadership (leading leaders) strongly preferred.
  • Rare disease, orphan drug or specialty/biologics sales leadership experience strongly preferred; experience with buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy or infused/injectable products a plus.
  • Previous US product launch experience in a sales leadership role required; experience building field launch readiness for a rare disease or specialty launch strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering sales results and leading organizations to a higher level of performance while ensuring compliance and high ethical standards.
  • Strong understanding of sales incentive compensation structures, sales operations, field analytics and training.
  • Strong understanding of US market access dynamics, including payer, specialty pharmacy, and site-of-care environments.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically as required, approximately 50% or more, including regular field visits.

What Will Help You Succeed:
You are a strategic and patient-centric leader who knows how to inspire, develop, and elevate teams to achieve exceptional results. You bring strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder group. Success in this role requires agility, accountability, and an entrepreneurial mindset, combined with a passion for developing talent and improving outcomes for patients living with rare diseases.
Your New Team:
You will report to the VP, Rare Disease and serve as a key member of the Rare Disease Leadership Team, leading a team of Regional Associate Directors and Rare Disease Sales Consultants across the US. You'll work closely with partners across Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Sales Operations, Analytics, Training, Compliance, and HR, while building relationships with key opinion leaders, treating institutions, centers of excellence, and patient advocacy organizations to help improve outcomes for patients living with rare diseases.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $250,000-350,000 per year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the LEO Pharma range for this position.
