Job description

Fiesta Schoolyards (www.fiestaschoolyards.org) is a project of the Lindy Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Its purpose is to transform schoolyards with fun, colorful environments that engage the hearts and minds of the school children, with a low-cost, quick and scalable methodology.
The Project Coordinator will help Fiesta Schoolyards build its local capacity to transform and enrich the play opportunities for Philadelphia school children and the local community in 100 schools (at a rate of 10+ schools per year) by supporting the Executive Director and Founder. This role will support all aspects of Fiesta Schoolyards projects from design through completion.
This includes coordinating with engineers on design development, managing renovation schedules with schools and contractors, and conducting site visits to observe progress and address any challenges that arise. The role also involves assisting with problem-solving around design or logistical issues, researching current and potential play amenities, planning and coordinating dedication events, managing the organization's social media platforms, and assisting with program and project needs as they arise.
This is a full-time position, which is largely remote but does require one day (Thursdays) in the office in Jenkintown and site visits to the schoolyards in Philadelphia. Plan and coordinate Fiesta Schoolyard projects. - Prep and initial work.
- Ongoing site visits for research purposes (measurements, troubleshooting, etc.)
- Introductory meetings with School Principals/Administrators.
- Create graphics and visuals (digital drawings, mural mockups, pinned maps, PowerPoint presentations, etc.)
- Communication with School and Contractors.
- Design Coordination
- Assist with coordinating communications between Contractor, Engineer, and District.
- Assist with reviewing site plan revisions.
- Assist with follow-ups on District feedback and required changes.
- Gathering updated quotes or cost estimates for amenities.
- Assisting with problem solving design, logistical challenges or research needs (current play amenities, new amenities, etc) as they arise.
- Project is underway
- Coordinating renovations schedules between Schools and Contractor.
- Weekly site visits to observe, monitor and inspect progress and compliance.
- Documenting before, during and after photos and notes.
- Assist with tracking change orders or adjustments in scope.
- Close-Out and Dedication

- Update as needed and circulate surveys and continued schoolyard care instructions.
- Dedications:
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of dedication events with the School's liaison and Community Outreach dept at the School District.
- Coordinate volunteer clean ups prior to dedications.
- PR and Communications
- Manage the organizations monthly Newsletter and oversee content creation and engagement across Facebook and Instagram.
- Administrative
- Assist with maintaining the organization of Box Cloud Storage.
- Host virtual meetings.
- Assist with new contract compilation.
- Update and create documents as needed (excel spreadsheets, PDFs, manual, satisfaction and follow-up surveys, etc.).
- Funding Assistance
- Assist with reaching out to new funders.
- Sponsor Reach out, assist with reaching out to sponsors and supporters within a geographic neighborhood or district.
- Grant Writing. Assist with Grant research and draft narratives for grant applications.
- City Support. Assist in reaching out to Council members and staff with the goal of $500,000+ in any given fiscal year from their operational budget.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary to help Fiesta Schoolyards realize it's goals, or as assigned by the Executive Director and Founder.
Compensation- $52,500 Annually
Largely remote, with Thursdays in-office at the Jenkintown, PA office. Shift: 8:00AM-4:30PM (Thursdays from 9:00AM- 5:30PM). Shift includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day.
