Registered Nurse, Medical Unit
PRN/OCC, Variable Hours Per Pay Period
Morristown Hamblen Overview:
Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is a 170-bed hospital serving an eight-county region in East Tennessee's Lakeway Area. The facility includes more than 20 emergency suites, advanced laboratories, radiology, and therapy services, and a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence for mammograms, biopsies, and nurse navigation. The Women's Center features six modern labor and delivery suites and a secure nursery for newborn care. With state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team, Morristown-Hamblen provides exceptional, patient-focused care close to home. Position Summary:
Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. In this position, RNs must commit to working hours set by the Tier 2 commitment agreement.
Responsibilities
RNs with less than 1 year of Nursing experience will:
  1. Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
  2. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
  3. Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
  4. Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
  5. Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
  6. Participates on unit-based committees.
  7. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  8. Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
  9. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties above, RNs with 1 or more years of experience are required to:
  1. Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
  2. Assesses learning needs of patient and family.
  3. Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
  4. Recommends interventions.
  5. Evaluates plan of care.
  6. Resolves problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
  7. Demonstrates willingness to precept employees/students as directed. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.
