Our holistic, patient-focused experience begins with understanding our patients desires, empowering them with trusted information, and ends with extraordinary results that illuminate ones best self from the inside out.Position Summary The OR Circulator (RN) will act as the patient advocate to oversee their care and needs. They will observe the surgery and assist the team as appropriate, to meet the needs of the patient.
They will assist in setting up the operating room, patient positioning, prepping the patients, monitoring, documenting, managing, applying dressings and garments, transport to the PACU, and room turnoverEssential Duties/Functions Responsible for passing requested tools, items, to those performing procedure
Record every aspect of the operation including names and titles of those performing the surgery, the tools used, the amount of anesthetic used, how long the procedure was
Update chart accordingly
Assist surgeons during the surgery as needed
Assist with room turnover by helping to clean the operating room post-operation and set up for the next procedure
Account for all tools, instruments, and sharps during the procedure
Help with center opening/closing duties if required
Help with preparing, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, equipment, and operating rooms if required
Assist with taking standardized photos if required
Confirm 1st stage liposuction compression garment fits before ordering 2nd stage liposuction compression garment
Participates in patient care activities adhering to the requirements of the Prean/PACU RN job descriptions as required
Ensures adequate inventory of controlled drugs, supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available to meet patient needs
Mixing liposuction tumescent bags
Assist with unpackaging, restocking, and reordering inventory
Check sharps boxes and change any that are full, empty all linen/biohazard bags, and logs
Launch in Prean and discharge from PACU when needed if properly trained
Complete all mandatory training
Follow all state, federal and/or local health and safety rules, laws, and regulations
*Additional job duties as assigned
EducationCurrent Michigan RN license, BSN preferredMust currently be BLS and ACLS certified or obtain your certifications within 30 days of employment (reimbursement is available)Experience Minimum three (3) years of ambulatory surgery clinical experience as an operating room registered nurse (RN)
CNOR preferred
Prean/PACU, Emergency room and/or ICU experience preferredInterpersonal Skills and AttributesBilingual English and Spanish is a plus
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient health information
Ability to focus on patient safety, teamwork, patient outcomes, patient experience and quality improvement
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Strong communication skills: written and verbal and interpersonal
Microsoft Office experience
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Flexible, reliable, patient-oriented, and self-motivated
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
