Job description

Position Overview

Territory Sales Manager – Chicago, IL (half of IL territory, 40% travel). Responsible for growing agency relationships and increasing revenue for GEICO and affiliated products within an assigned area.

Responsibilities
  • Prospect, interview, and approve new agency appointments.
  • Manage and build relationships with agents through in-person, virtual, phone, and email.
  • Implement agency program policies and procedures.
  • Translate national strategic initiatives into local goals and hold agents accountable.
  • Monitor agent performance against goals, procedures and guidelines.
  • Counsel agents and, with leadership support, take disciplinary action up to termination.
  • Deliver effective communication and assist agencies in developing local marketing plans.
  • Use data analysis to prepare pre‑call strategies focusing on key opportunities.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert on GEICO products, features and tools.
  • Research competitor offerings to influence agents to sell GEICO products.
  • Conduct training of agency staff on products, services and value proposition.
  • Develop efficient and effective growth plans in collaboration with leadership and product team.
  • Prepare department business plans, staffing projections and budgets, and review to achieve cost reduction.
  • Requisition supplies and materials necessary for efficient operation.
  • Adhere to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.
  • Maintain attendance standards to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to multitask.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiency in using data and technology to support sales activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of sales or relevant experience.
  • Prior experience driving sales results.
  • Experience with different lines of insurance (P&C, Commercial, Life/Health) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license & compliance with GEICO driving standards.
Compensation

Annual salary range: $104,550.00 – $161,950.00 (subject to factors such as experience, education, market).
