Personal Support Assistant (CNA)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Full-Time | Pay Range: $17.50 - $24.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas is seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Support Assistant (CNA) to provide supportive services to Sisters residing in Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, and Independent Living environments in the Omaha area.

This role provides meaningful assistance that helps Sisters maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. Responsibilities include transportation to appointments and errands, assistance during outings, shopping support, and other requested services that contribute to the daily well-being of the Sisters we serve.

The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, and committed to treating every individual with respect, compassion, and dignity.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide transportation for Sisters to medical appointments, visits, shopping, errands, and other activities as requested.

  • Accompany Sisters to appointments when needed, assisting with registration and providing support throughout the visit.

  • Provide shopping and pick-up/delivery services based on the needs of the Sisters and community.

  • Work closely with the Local Care Coordinator (LCC) and Health & Wellness services to understand and support individual needs.

  • Assist Sisters with mobility needs, including use of walkers and wheelchairs when appropriate.

  • Maintain assigned vehicle by completing basic upkeep such as fueling and checking window-washer fluid levels.

  • Report vehicle concerns, incidents, accidents, or safety issues promptly.

  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other required activities.

  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, and respectful environment.

  • Demonstrate the Mercy mission and values through daily interactions with Sisters, coworkers, families, and visitors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired:
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and prioritize responsibilities.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with Sisters, coworkers, and community members.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience providing direct care or support services to older adults.

  • Experience assisting individuals with mobility needs.

  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in stressful situations.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Understanding and appreciation for the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Church.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:
