We are currently seeking a Full-Time Occupational Therapist (Including Part-Time Clinical Lead Duties)
This unique position combines a full-time Occupational Therapist role with designated Clinical Lead responsibilities offering the opportunity to balance direct client care with clinical leadership.
As an Occupational Therapist at VHA, you will be assessing and providing consultation, recommendations and interventions to adults group of clients in their homes using evidence-based best practice. You will ensure coordinated delivery of care through ongoing communication with the client care team regarding plans and schedules for interventions, problem solve in collaboration with the client and care team to create opportunities for more independence and promote VHA's core beliefs and values.
Among other roles, you will provide advice, mentoring, consultation, and expertise related to Occupational Therapy profession. You will provide joint visits with other Occupational Therapists and Service Providers to give input for performance reviews. Support Occupational Therapists and Service Providers who face clinically challenging situations. You will provide clinical orientation for new Occupational Therapists or those changing clinical areas, mentor groups for new graduates or those new to the community setting and well as facilitate team peer support meetings. You will identify, promote, and participate in best practice initiatives reflective of the requirements of the evolving health care system. You will also meet regularly with the Supervisor, Rehab Best Practice. You will act as a resource in the implementation and interpretation of discipline-specific professional standards of practice, contribute to the development of standards of practice, clinical policies, and procedures relevant to the profession.


Key Areas of Accountability

VHA's Occupational Therapist have the following key areas of accountability, but not limited to:

  • Assesses and implements occupational therapy interventions in accordance with professional practice guidelines and standards established by VHA and the perspective regulatory college.
  • Implement client interventions based on assessment information, client input and in conjunction with the client's integrated care plan.
  • Ensure that services provided are best practice, evidence-based and evaluated through the routine use of valid and reliable outcome measured.
  • Ensure coordinated delivery of care through ongoing communication with all members of the client's team regarding plans and schedules for interventions.
  • Document all assessment findings, treatment plans, progress and discharge summaries of interventions as required by the profession, referral source and the organization.
  • Supports safe client care through the development of knowledge and skills in accordance with our principles of continuous quality improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Valid Driver's License with access to a vehicle (asset)
  • Compassionate and empathetic
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently
  • Skilled in caseload management
  • Skilled at electronic documentation
  • Able to provide virtual care
  • A registered ADP authorizer (asset)
