Job description

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the Zero Density/Unreal pipeline to ensure all aspects are fully working and performant for virtual productions. It involves managing the software, hardware, tracking, and lighting systems used to create a final seamless in‑camera image. The role collaborates closely with the Systems Administrator or Sr. Studio Systems Engineer to keep the entire studio pipeline in sync.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Zero Density/Unreal hardware and software stack.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and technical issues related to tracking, connectivity, lighting, tool behavior, and assets.
  • Provide time‑to‑completion estimates for changes or issues.
  • Develop tools or processes to streamline workflows.
  • Triage and report issues to the Broadcast Engineer and Multimedia Production Manager.
  • Ensure final production deliverables are efficiently available to the creative team.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to ingest, set up, optimize, and validate Unreal assets within the Zero Density pipeline.
  • Advise and support the implementation of digital environments, talent, and physical props during virtual productions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge or experience with Unreal Engine and virtual/XR pipelines preferred.
  • Understanding of network communication.
  • Operational programming language troubleshooting experience.
  • Highly computer literate with Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.
  • Creative technical problem‑solver, able to improvise solutions under pressure and in live‑production situations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Five years of experience working within a virtual studio production environment, film production, virtual or XR production, motion capture, or real‑time graphics production.
