Job description

Virtual Therapist (Remote)
Guardian Recovery - New Pathways Counseling
Location: Remote, but must be clinically licensed in NJ.
Yearly salary ranging from $65K to $75K a year based on experience.
Two evening shifts required per week (12pm to 8pm).
Full-time with benefits.
About New Pathway Counseling:
Part of Guardian Recovery, we provide evidence-based outpatient addiction treatment in New Jersey, helping individuals overcome substance use disorders while maintaining their daily responsibilities. With locations in Pine Brook and Bayonne, our programs support clients throughout Northern New Jersey with flexible and personalized care.
Our outpatient programs include Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and standard outpatient treatment, allowing clients to receive structured therapy and medical support while continuing work, school, and family life. Each recovery plan is customized by our licensed clinical team to address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction.
Work Schedule:
  • Minimum of two evening shifts required (12pm to 8pm), while other shifts can be 9am to 5pm.
  • Flexibility option of working 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday OR 9-hour shifts Monday through Thursday with a 4-hour shift on Friday.

Please note this is a full-time remote position supporting our virtual programs, but all applicants must be clinically licensed in the State of New Jersey. See below for details and a list of acceptable licensure in qualifications section.
Position Duties:
  • Responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the attending physician, Medical Director, Executive Director, and Clinical Director.
  • Provide group therapy as ordered by the Clinical Director. Collaborates with the Treatment Team in the formulation of the Master Treatment Plan and assists in coordinating discharge planning.
  • Primary clients will be adolescents with adults as secondary. Clinician should be able to work with adolescent for mental health primary treatment and adults for both substance abuse disorder and mental health diagnoses.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Masters degree in a relevant field is required, such as Mental Health Counseling or a Masters of Social Work.
  • Ideal applicants will have experience with experience both adolescents and adults, but all applicants must have some level of hands on clinical experience to be considered.
  • The ability to pass a drug test and background check is required.
  • Applicants must be clinically licensed in New Jersey (see below).

Licensure Requirements:
Applicants must have an active and unencumbered clinical license in The State of New Jersey.
Ideally, this will be one of the following:
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)

Alternatively, we can also consider:
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

EXTENDED JOB DESCRIPTION:
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
  1. Actively participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
  2. Share pertinent information with the team as obtained from the client's family, or others as indicated throughout the program.
  3. Attend daily and weekly staff meetings according to the schedule.
  4. Evaluate the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu
  5. Facilitate group therapy.
  6. Perform individual therapy with client/family.
  7. Document the assessment of client progress/regress and interventions provided in the medical record, on an ongoing basis.
  8. Recognize, respond to and assist in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention.
  9. Respond and assist in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
  10. Communicate effectively with clients, staff and physicians.
  11. Provide clients with education and instruction on Advance Directives.
  12. Attend and participate in monthly Program Staff meetings as scheduled.
  13. Adhere to policies and procedures.
  14. Perform other duties assigned.
  15. Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC's privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company's policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  16. May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
  17. Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC's policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
  18. Contract with payors upon request, ensuring all necessary documentation and requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  19. Maintain NPI and CAQH profiles, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  20. Review, approve, and countersign all required clinical documentation in compliance with established timeline.
