Job description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identifies prospective school partners, assesses fit, and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop programming that supports the shared objectives of the schools and RIT
  • Coordinates and oversees all aspects of operations and logistics for assigned internal and/or external programs. Serves as the point of contact for speakers, trainers, participants, and other program stakeholders
  • Develops strategic relationships, recruits new program members, and maintains the engagement of enrolled participants. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of student services
  • Assists with tracking, evaluating, documenting, and reporting on programs and their immediate and long-term impact
  • Creates, promotes, and implements new initiatives that expose youth to RIT and its resources, such as summer camps, and early college and career exposure experiences
  • Strategizes, develops and manages communications with external audiences to market assigned programs and services. Conducts outreach to encourage participation, support program retention, and build the enrollment pipeline
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Level Overview

Specialized Contributor Level 2 - A fully functional role requiring established knowledge of the profession or field of work. Responsible for completing substantive assignments and projects. Problems are varied and non-routine, and resolution requires exercising judgment, analysis, advisement, creativity, and understanding broader sets of issues. May provide assistance to entry level staff.

The NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) promotes training and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) high school students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. NRSC achieves its goals of improving access to postsecondary STEM education and employment for students by:

  • Enhancing understanding about opportunities for DHH individuals in STEM careers among middle and high school DHH students and their families, teachers, counselors, amd vocational rehabilitation (VR) counselors.
  • Improving the instructional and technical skills of high school teachers in STEM areas.
  • Establishing, expanding, and improving pathways for DHH students to transition from high school to associate degrees, to baccalaureate degrees, and beyond in STEM areas.
  • Improving access to learning for DHH students who may be in mainstream classes, with or without support and access services.
  • Developing employers' awareness of DHH individuals as potential employees and how they can be hired and successfully integrated into the STEM workforce.
  • Improving the STEM knowledge and sign language skills of American Sign Language interpreters.

The NRSC works in partnership with multiple departments, units and offices within NTID including but not limited to: Academic Affairs, Access Services, Admissions, Budget and Finance, Co-op and Career Center, DeafTEC, External Affairs, Marketing Communications, Pre-College Outreach, Project Fast Forward, Student and Academic Services, Summer Transition Program, and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Travel required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as assigned/ needed.
