Job description

Abacus Technology is seeking a Cloud Architect to provide technical support of Oracle Cloud infrastructures for the Federal Aviation Administration.  This is a full-time position.


  • Conduct cloud migration readiness assessments and develop migration strategies and roadmaps.
  • Develop and design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools like Oracle Resource Manager, Terraform or other tools to automate cloud infrastructure deployment.
  • Write and maintain scripts for cloud resource provisioning.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance controls, such as identity and access management (IAM) policies, encryption, and monitoring using OCI native tools along with Prisma Cloud โ€“ CSPMP (Cloud Security Posture Management Platform).
  • Optimize performance and cost of OCI resources using tools like Cloud Advisor and Financial Operations Suite.
  • Explore new OCI AI solutions such as OCI AI Services for innovative solutions.
  • Design enterprise solutions to support cloud account creation, user access, network connectivity, and other core cloud services.

10+ years experience with enterprise or large scale virtual environments.  Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field; Masterโ€™s degree preferred.  Extensive experience in systems architecture, requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, and cloud transition.  Experience in federal contracting or highly regulated enterprise environments.  Expert knowledge of cloud-native OCI services and related tools.  Expertise in automation tools, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps practices, and cloud governance.  Proficient with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Oracle Resource Manager, Oracle API Catalog, and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio).  Advanced knowledge of virtualization platforms and cloud service models, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and virtual switches.  Hands-on experience with migration strategies ensuring low-risk transitions.  Able to manage multiple projects and adapt to new technologies.  Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.  Must have strong documentation skills and a commitment to scalable, maintainable engineering practices   Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scripting skills.  Must be detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance.  Must be a US citizen.
