Job Summary

Students hired in these positions tutor children (from Preschool through 9th grade) in reading and/or math. Tutors currently provide in-person and remote/virtual support. Locations include the ISU campus, local schools, after-school programs, public libraries, and community centers.

Additional Information

Student employees are eligible to participate in the University's 403(b) Plan.  More information can be found here.

Pay Rate

$15.00/hour - $17.00/hour

Required Qualifications

1. Applicants MUST be awarded Federal Work Study.
2. Ability to provide your own transportation for off-campus sites (this includes public transportation).
3. Must be dependable.
4. Applicants must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5.
5. Experience working with children and/or tutoring is required.
6. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Students in teacher education programs are strongly desired.
2. Students with bilingual skills (fluent in Spanish) are preferred.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held.
