What Does a Virtual Math Teacher Do?

As a virtual math teacher, you use an online system to teach students various elements of mathematics. In this remote role, you may create lessons, provide personalized advice to students, and adjust lesson plans as needed to handle each student's needs. Most virtual math teachers work in a virtual classroom setting where you may use a webcam and talk directly with students. Those students could all be located in a classroom together, or they could be spread out and learning from home. For example, some virtual math teachers give lessons to homeschooled children whose parents are not comfortable teaching this subject. Virtual math teachers are not virtual math tutors, and these two positions should not be confused. Teachers focus on long-term, multi-class lessons for a group while tutors work one-on-one.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Virtual Math Teacher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Math Teacher, a solid background in mathematics, a teaching credential, and experience with online instruction are essential. Familiarity with virtual learning platforms (such as Zoom or Google Classroom), digital assessment tools, and educational software is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and the ability to engage and motivate students remotely are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure effective teaching, student understanding, and a positive learning environment in the virtual classroom.

How do Virtual Math Teachers effectively engage students and maintain participation in an online classroom environment?

Engaging students as a Virtual Math Teacher requires a mix of interactive teaching tools, clear communication, and creative lesson planning. Teachers often use digital whiteboards, breakout rooms, and polling software to encourage participation and foster collaboration. Building strong relationships through regular feedback, prompt responses to questions, and personalized support helps maintain students' motivation. Additionally, Virtual Math Teachers may adapt their teaching strategies based on student analytics and feedback to continually improve engagement.

What is a Virtual Math Teacher?

A Virtual Math Teacher is an educator who teaches mathematics to students online rather than in a traditional classroom setting. They use digital platforms, video conferencing, and various educational tools to deliver lessons, assign homework, and assess student progress. Virtual Math Teachers may work for online schools, tutoring companies, or as independent contractors. Their role often involves adapting teaching methods to engage students remotely and leveraging technology to facilitate learning. This position requires strong mathematical knowledge, effective communication skills, and proficiency with online teaching tools.

Job Title: Middle & High School Science Teacher
Company: Dragons Academy, a Black Dragon Capital Portfolio Company
Location: Delray Beach / Boynton Beach Area, Florida

HIRING MULTIPLE CANDIDATES.

Job Summary:

About Black Dragon Capital:
Black Dragon Capital LLC (BDC) is a unique growth-oriented private equity firm focused on investing in areas where information technology is enabling the disruption of industries by allowing a faster, better and more economically compelling way to solve industry issues. We seek to benefit from a diverse perspective combined with high performance operating and investment executives. We hire and promote based on merit, without bias, and make a genuine effort to ensure we have a diversified team that aligns with the diversity of our portfolio companies and their clients. We intend to maintain over 65% of our team members as culturally or gender diverse, and work hard to foster a supportive and welcoming workplace. Bringing a leadership and advisory group of successful entrepreneurs, former operators and deal making experience, Black Dragon’s team has a track record of building market leading companies, driving above market returns and accelerating growth and profitability through its distribution connections, strategic advice, and active participation within our investments, primarily in financial technologies, eCommerce, and sports and media technology markets.
About Dragons Academy:
Traditional public and private schools are leaving families frustrated, while homeschooling, though the fastest-growing alternative puts tremendous strain on parents. The system isn’t working, and families are stuck choosing between rigid institutions or overwhelming do-it-yourself solutions.
That’s why we launched Dragon Academy. Founded by Black Dragon Capital, technology entrepreneurs, and pioneers in education, Dragons Academy was founded by successful technology entrepreneurs, engaged educators and pioneers in education-based programs to create a next generation fully accredited 1 to 1 learning school for grades K to 12, where personalized education unlocks the full potential of students while providing unprecedented flexibility and oversight by parents and families. Through at-home, virtual, and in-person personalized instruction, we empower students to thrive while giving families the freedom and support they need.
Role Overview

Our Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking passionate, reflective elementary teachers with an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to create a different kind of learning experience. The ideal candidate will not only deliver highly personalized instruction, but also inspire curiosity, foster foundational academic skills, and nurture confidence and independence across core subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. We want educators who share in the frustration with traditional learning environments and are eager to build a better future—one student at a time.
The right educator will:
  • Reimagine traditional lessons as launchpads, designing bold, engaging experiences that not only build literacy and numeracy but also spark critical and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Fuel curiosity and creativity by treating every project as a chance for students to invent, experiment, and connect learning to real-world challenges.
  • Model resilience and growth, empowering students to take risks, learn from setbacks, and approach the future with confidence and agility.
  • Thrive in fast-moving, flexible environments, collaborating with families and teammates to co-create a learning culture that’s as innovative as it is student-centered.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design immersive learning experiences across core science subjects, for grades 6–12, that feel less like “lessons” and more like personal journeys.
  • Adapt strategies to meet every student’s unique style, transforming challenges into opportunities.
  • Experiment with new models and tools that disrupt the traditional mold of education.
  • Measure what matters, using assessments not as shackles, but as instruments for growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate deeply with families to co-create individualized learning paths that empower rather than constrain.
  • Contribute to the blueprint of Dragons Academy, helping shape the policies, culture, and direction of a school determined to lead education into its next era.
  • This isn’t just a teaching job. It’s a chance to join a movement. To stand at the front lines of education’s evolution. To be part teacher, part innovator, part entrepreneur.

Qualifications:
Knowledge / Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, a scientific discipline, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Must hold valid Florida Teacher Certification in Middle Grades Science 5–9 or Science 6–12, OR a Temporary Florida Teaching Certificate with an agreement to complete requirements for full Florida Educator Certification in one of those areas within three years of employment start date.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching or tutoring experience in middle and high school grades preferred.
  • Strong background in science instruction and inquiry-based learning.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary and project-based teaching approaches.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Driven, reflective learner with a growth mindset
  • Must have empathy for students and enthusiasm for developing personalized, one-to-one learning relationships.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive Salary
  • Benefits Package Includes:
    • 401(k).
    • Medical insurance – 85% of premiums covered by employer.
    • Dental coverage.
    • Vision coverage – fully covered by employer.
    • Short-term disability – fully covered by employer.
Start Date - Immediate Vacancies Available
