Job description

Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Rockville, MD

Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000

Office Schedule: Hybrid

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)

I. About the Role

We're partnering with a well-established organization in the professional services space that is looking to add an AP Staff Accountant to its growing accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of accounts payable and general accounting responsibilities while working in a collaborative, people focused environment.

II. What You'll Be Doing

  • Process and manage day to day accounts payable transactions
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Perform account reconciliations and assist with month end close activities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support general ledger operations
  • Research and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure smooth financial processes
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements and increased efficiency

III. What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong background in:
    • Accounts Payable
    • General Ledger Accounting
    • Journal Entries
    • Account Reconciliations
  • Demonstrated stability in previous positions with a solid tenure history
  • Strong communication skills and an approachable, team-first attitude
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative office environment
  • Interest in leveraging technology and automation to streamline accounting functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a large ERP system (ex. NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)
