What is a virtual insurance agent?

A Virtual Insurance Agent is a professional who sells and manages insurance policies remotely, typically using online platforms, phone calls, and video conferencing instead of meeting clients in person. They help clients understand their insurance needs, recommend suitable policies, and assist with claims or policy changes. Virtual Insurance Agents can work for insurance companies, brokers, or as independent agents, and their remote approach allows them to serve clients from various locations efficiently. This role requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of insurance products.

How do virtual insurance agents typically collaborate with clients and team members in a remote work setting?

Virtual insurance agents primarily interact with clients through phone calls, emails, and video meetings, ensuring personalized service while working remotely. Collaboration with underwriters, claims specialists, and other team members is usually managed via digital platforms like CRM systems, chat tools, and virtual meetings. This remote structure requires strong communication skills and self-discipline, but also offers flexibility and the chance to develop expertise in digital customer service. Regular virtual team check-ins help maintain a supportive environment and keep everyone aligned on goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual insurance agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Insurance Agent, you need a solid understanding of insurance products, sales experience, and often a state-issued insurance license. Familiarity with digital CRM platforms, quoting tools, and secure communication systems is typically required. Exceptional customer service, strong communication skills, and self-motivation help agents build trust and effectively assist clients remotely. These skills and qualities ensure agents can efficiently sell policies, provide reliable support, and maintain compliance in a digital work environment.

While both roles require licensing, Virtual Insurance emphasizes remote, tech-driven interactions, whereas Insurance Agents often operate in physical locations. The choice depends on your preferred work environment and career focus within the insurance industry.

Virtual insurance agents typically earn between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, with top performers making over $100,000. Compensation often includes commissions and bonuses based on sales, and agents usually need insurance licenses to operate remotely.

Remote Family Benefits Consultant /
Client Services & Enrollment

Company: AO โ€“ American Income Division
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote | U.S. Residents Only
Schedule: Flexible
Experience Level: Entry Level Welcome | Training & Mentorship Provided

Work From Home. Help Families. Build a Career That Matters.

Are you looking for a meaningful remote career where you can help families, build lasting relationships, and create opportunities for professional and financial growth?

AO is seeking motivated, people-focused professionals to join our expanding virtual team as Remote Family Benefits Consultants. In this role, you'll connect with individuals and families who have requested information about available benefits, help them understand their options, and provide professional support throughout the enrollment process.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, value flexibility, and are motivated by a performance-based environment.

Whether you're starting a new career, returning to the workforce, or bringing experience from customer service, healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, or sales, we'll provide the training, mentorship, and ongoing support needed to help you succeed.

No previous insurance experience is required.

About AO

AO โ€“ American Income Division has a long history of serving working families and providing supplemental life, accident, and health insurance benefits to members of labor unions, credit unions, associations, and their families.

As part of the Globe Life family of companies, our organization is focused on personalized client service, long-term relationships, professional development, and helping families better understand their financial protection options.

Our teams operate in a virtual environment, allowing representatives to serve clients remotely while receiving ongoing training, coaching, and leadership support.

What You'll Do

As a Remote Family Benefits Consultant, you'll serve as a trusted resource for clients seeking information about available benefits and coverage options.

  • Conduct scheduled virtual appointments through Zoom and phone
  • Connect with clients who have requested information about available benefits
  • Learn about each family's needs, priorities, and coverage questions
  • Explain supplemental life, accident, and health benefit options clearly
  • Answer questions and provide professional, personalized guidance
  • Assist clients with applications and enrollment documentation

  • Deliver a positive experience before, during, and after enrollment
  • Follow up with clients who need additional assistance
  • Maintain long-term relationships through continued service
  • Help families make informed decisions regarding their available benefits
Qualified Client Opportunities โ€“ No Traditional Cold Calling

Rather than spending your day prospecting random consumers, representatives connect with individuals and families who have requested information regarding available benefits.

This allows you to focus on:

  • Scheduled client conversations
  • Benefits education
  • Relationship building
  • Enrollment assistance
  • Follow-up and ongoing client service
What We Offer ๐Ÿก 100% Remote Work

Build your career from home while remaining connected to clients, mentors, and teammates.

  • Work remotely within the United States
  • No daily commute

  • Flexible scheduling opportunities
๐Ÿ’ฐ Weekly Performance-Based Compensation

Compensation opportunities include:

  • Weekly commission-based pay
  • Performance bonuses
  • Recognition incentives
  • Leadership incentives
  • Residual and renewal income opportunities
  • Uncapped earning potential based on individual performance

This is a commission-based opportunity rather than an hourly or salaried position. Individual earnings vary based on activity, performance, and results.

Training & Mentorship ๐Ÿ“š No Insurance Experience Required

We provide structured training and ongoing development, including:

  • Virtual onboarding
  • Product and benefits education
  • Client service training
  • Enrollment systems training
  • Weekly coaching
  • One-on-one mentorship
