Job description

Photography Instructor – Camp Canon – Part Time/Occasional

We’re looking for a photography enthusiast to join our Camp Canon Team!

You will be joining Canon to support the next generation of photographers to unlock their creativity & build valuable skills through an engaging, nurturing online camp experience. You will be working with youth and adults across Canada, along with Camp Canon Leaders to facilitate online sessions to introduce campers to the basics of photography and build their skills!

We are looking to have you join our team by the end of January 2022!


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Instruct a small group of 8-10 campers through a 5 week or 1 week camp experience by hosting a 1 hr camp session per week (weekends, or evenings)
  • Conduct virtual presentations to introduce campers to the basics of using their camera’s manual settings, provide photo challenges to help them practice & build their skills, and review photo submissions to support their growth!
  • Have the opportunity to provide an incredible learning experience, while helping to inspire the next generation of young photographers on their creative journey.

What We’re Looking For

  • A portfolio of work to demonstrate your skills and to share with campers is required - please add links to your portfolio, webpage, Instagram or YouTube etc. to your resume.
  • A great understanding of photography fundamentals and techniques, and the ability to use the range of manual settings available on a Canon mirrorless and/or digital SLR camera.
  • Experience with nature / wildlife photography, & portrait photography is ideal.
  • A great communicator with the ability to breakdown & explain key ideas about how to use camera settings to a beginner.
  • An engaging, fun, and patient personality to create an amazing online camp experience.
  • Previous experience with coaching and instructing, or a great appetite to do so.
