Please Note:  Only candidates who reside in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or Vermont are eligible to be considered for this role. At this time, Center for Life Management is not able to employ staff residing in other states. 

Summary Statement

Center for Life Management (CLM) provides the area's most comprehensive array outpatient mental health services. CLM offers the Child Impact Program (CIP), a court-ordered educational seminar designed to help parents understand the impact of divorce, separation and custody issues on their children. The program teaches skills that will enable parents to make choices and decisions that will be consistent with their child's emotional and developmental needs. The Child Impact Instructor provides parents with strategies, suggestions and tools to effectively co-parent and respond to their child's feelings of separation, loss and changing family roles. This is a fee for service, +/- 8 hours per month position. Schedule:  One Saturday (9-1 pm) per month and two Wednesdays per month (6-8 pm), and an in-person class one Saturday per quarter at our Derry, NH location. 

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties

• Co-facilitate Child Impact Program curriculum including topics of alternative methods of litigation, custodial options, talking with children about divorce, stages of grief, behaviors that indicate a problem and how to respond, co-parenting after separation, importance of shielding children from parental conflict, separating parental emotional needs from child's needs, communication skills and ways to foster self-esteem.
• Discuss legal and dispute resolution options, but not give legal advice.
• Moderate emotional discussion in an adult educational environment.
• Function professionally and in a manner that protects the integrity, confidentiality and rights of all participants.
• Execute all required services and documentation in accordance with agency policies and federal/state standards.
• Maintain professional memberships, licenses, accreditation, certifications, etc.
• Represent CLM in a professional and appropriate manner in all settings.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work will be hybrid in the office and virtual via telehealth. Manual dexterity is needed to use computers. The ability to sit and instruct for extended periods of time is required. Reliable internet access is required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

• Master's degree in a mental health field (psychology, social work, behavioral sciences, educational counseling or psychiatric nursing) or two years of experience with parents and families (degree requirements can be waived by Family Court System).
• Work experience in child development, family life education, marriage and family counseling or related fields.
• Strong group facilitation skills and the ability to present to large and small groups.
• Comprehensive understanding of co-parenting and other parenting styles.
• Proficient computer skills, specifically with all Microsoft office applications.
• Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgement while interacting with participants who are involved in highly stressful parenting situations.
• Ability and desire to work in partnership with Child Impact Program co-facilitator while also able to be self-directed and motivated with minimal supervision.
• Ability to acquire and effectively practice new clinical skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services.
• Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
