Job description

Position Title: Tooling Development Lead

General Description
  • Manage the sourcing, design, build, and release of injection molding tooling for lighting operations

  • Manage the communication of customer and internal specifications to tool shops to facilitate the quote of new programs

  • Direct a team of engineers and coordinators in the execution of the above

Responsibilities
  • Perform supply chain development and management activities

  • Drive lessons learned improvements through to design phase of each new program

  • Develop and maintain external tooling and machining support including standards and processes

  • Proactively reduce Cost of Quality and improve productivity

  • Lead sourcing, design and build of new injection molds by working with tool shops and internal design

  • Provide feasibility and cost estimation studies for ECR’s and repairs

  • Support design meeting with customers, tooling, and subcontracted suppliers

Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • 10 years’ experience with injection molding tooling, processing, and project management

  • Previous Tooling experience, preferably in an automotive lighting environment

  • Tooling purchasing and project management including cost, capacity, and risk management

Education

  • High School Diploma

  • College degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience and training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use various Microsoft based programs and or ERP programs

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex data.

  • Knowledge of industry best practice for injection molding and tooling

  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing in light assembly, SMD, die casting, machining, painting, and injection molding

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, CAE such as mold flow and FEA

  • Management and oversight of supply base and internal teams

  • Travel-Required as needed domestic and international

  • Other tasks as assigned by the development manage
