Job description


Title: Operator – Injection Mold Department (2nd and 3rd shift positions)

Reports to: Shift Supervisor Pay policy: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Summary of the position: The Injection Mold Operator is responsible for inspection, labeling, and packing products that meet customer quality standards, and maintaining production data for quantity, scrap, and downtime.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Removes part from workstation and inspects for product quality, repairing defects to meet quality standards such as buffing, trimming, removing excess plastic, use utility knife, buff pads, propane torch, etc. according to work instructions for the part
  • Assembly of components, foam strips, grommets, etc. according to work instructions for the part
  • Packs product into containers according to work instructions for the part
  • Labels containers as directed according to work instructions for the part
  • Maintains production paperwork, recording data such as number of parts produced, parts scrapped, downtime, and reasons, inputs production data into touchscreen computer, status boards, etc.
  • May assist in rework, repack, make boxes, or perform other secondary operations necessary to meet customer requirements for the product
  • Maintains housekeeping at workstation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards (IATF 16949 latest revision or equivalent), ISO14001, safety procedures, and customer-specific requirements.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must maintain regular and predictable attendance physically onsite at the workplace
  • Must be able to stand continuously for a full shift, walk, bend, use both hands in working with the parts including assembly and fine manipulation, push, pull, reach, be able to distinguish color, able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to view computer screens and paperwork at close distance, distinguishing letters and numbers
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and perform basic mathematics in English.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
  • Subject to moving equipment, machinery, overhead cranes, motorized carts, forklifts, various sounds at differing noise levels, fumes, household cleaners, degreasers, and various types of plastics
