Senior Manager, Global Virtual Health Alliance

World Economic Forum

Geneva, IL

Job description

Please Note: This role requires the ability to work on site 3 days per week per company policy.

The annual salary range for this role is $150,000-170,000 in New York.

The duration of this role is 3 years.

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation.

The Forum engages the foremost political, business and civil society leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The Forum's Centre for Health and Healthcare works to identify and scale up solutions for more resilient, efficient, and equitable healthcare systems to deliver the best possible care and keep global populations healthy, happy, and thriving. The flagship Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative, launched in 2024, is a global public-private platform for systems change in health; our mission is to unlock the full potential of digital health, data, and AI by catalysing global collaboration and converting ambitions into real-world impact.

Why we are recruiting

The Global Virtual Health Alliance (GVHA) is a new international, multi-stakeholder alliance convened by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.

Technology is rapidly transforming the how, when and where of healthcare delivery. Digital tools are expanding capabilities and new care models are increasing access, democratizing knowledge and enabling more continuous, personalized care. These shifts are increasingly central to addressing global health system pressures, including workforce shortages, rising chronic disease, escalating costs and persistent inequities in access to care. Yet a fundamental question remains: can digital innovation truly transform health and the health systems that support the world's 8 billion people?

Amidst this tension, a clear mega-trend is emerging: "virtual health" is presenting the potential for a fundamental paradigm shift in healthcare delivery. By extending care beyond traditional clinical settings and into homes and communities, virtual health improves access, continuity and outcomes across diverse populations. Virtual health encompasses an evolving set of care models powered by a connected ecosystem of technologies - including telemedicine, remote monitoring, digital therapeutics, mobile and AI-enabled tools, and asynchronous care - that together can transform how care is delivered and experienced.

The Global Virtual Health Alliance aims to establish a world class convening platform to bring together the world's top global industry leaders from health, insurance, technology, telecommunications, and investment to work closely with virtual health experts, policy makers, regulators, multilateral organizations and patient representatives to support the development of a shared global vision, strategies, and collective guidance to shape the future of virtual health. The Alliance works to align priorities, develop strategies and mobilize action across policy, implementation and investment, operating as part of the Forum's broader Digital Healthcare Transformation Initiative.

To support this ambition, the World Economic Forum is establishing a dedicated team to act as the Secretariat of the GVHA, responsible for shaping the Alliance's strategic direction, coordinating its workstreams, stewarding its global community and delivering tangible, high-impact outcomes.

Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Global Virtual Health Alliance will lead the secretariat of the Global Virtual Health Alliance and be responsible for its overall strategy, governance, planning and impact. This role will oversee a small, high-performing team.

This role is a term-limited role, with an initial term of three years.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

This position will report to the Head, Health Systems Transformation.

The successful candidate will work internally with other leaders and colleagues from across the Centre for Health and Healthcare, other relevant Centres, regional government relations teams, and account and partner development teams. Externally, this role will lead relationships with senior level leaders from Forum partner companies, knowledge partners and other stakeholders including governments, international organizations, civil society, and experts in global health. This role will also coordinate closely with senior leadership of the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia as co-host of the Alliance.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Governance
o Define and steward the Alliance's vision, priorities and multi-year roadmap in alignment with Forum principles and the Digital Healthcare Transformation initiative.
o Establish and oversee governance structures, and guide decisions on stakeholder engagement, partnerships, workstreams and outputs in response to evolving trends.
o Serve as the senior point of contact for members and partners, ensuring trust, neutrality and value creation.

Delivery, Impact and Thought Leadership
o Oversee the development of high-impact outputs (e.g. reports, frameworks, convenings and pilots), ensuring analytical rigour, relevance and real-world application.
o Monitor progress, manage risks and adapt priorities as needed.
o Position the Alliance as a credible and trusted global platform, safeguarding the integrity and external narrative of its work.

Sustainability and Growth
o Shape and steward a sustainable operating model, supporting strategic growth of membership and partnerships across regions.
o Oversee funding agreements, budgeting and forecasting, and explore additional resourcing opportunities for long-term continuity.

Team Leadership and External Engagement
o Lead and develop the Secretariat team, establishing clear operating rhythms and ways of working across stakeholders.
o Represent the Alliance in senior-level forums and global events, and support engagement with governments, multilaterals and system leaders.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have a high degree of strategic acumen to effectively set, refine, and evolve strategic direction in areas where global consensus and evidence are still evolving.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in balancing ambition with political, regulatory and operational realities.
  • Effectively organize, convene, and align senior stakeholders with differing incentives around a shared agenda.
  • Bring a systems-level perspective to the interaction between health, technology and policy.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in healthcare, digital health, public policy, consulting or a related domain.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, alliances or platforms at regional or global level.
  • Strong understanding of virtual health, digital health systems and health technology ecosystems.
