Job description

Consumer Finance Analyst
Somebody has to find the yes.
A homeowner finally sits down to fix the bathroom they've put off for six years. They love the design, they're ready to move forward, and then the credit comes back thin — a rough stretch a few years back, a debt-to-income ratio that's tight, a score just shy of the program they need. At most companies, that's where the conversation ends. At Improveit, that file comes to you. As our Consumer Finance Analyst, you own the financing options, programs, and processes that make our customers' projects possible, working directly with our lender partners, Sales Leadership, Sales Enablement, and our Sales Design Consultants to find the approval and structure the deal so it funds.
To be clear about what this job is and isn't: you are not selling financing. You're the credit expert behind the sale. Our Design Consultants handle the homeowner and the project. You handle the approval.
About Improveit Home Remodeling
Improveit Home Remodeling has been serving homeowners since 1989. What started as a small Ohio operation has grown into one of the region's most trusted replacement contractors, specializing in energy-efficient windows, bathroom remodeling, and kitchen remodeling across Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky; Nashville, Tennessee and Charlotte, North Carolina. We're BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, a 22-time Consumers' Choice Award winner, and we've completed more than 75,000 jobs — roughly one in four of them for a repeat customer. More than three decades in, homeowners still come back to us, and that's the number we're proudest of.
Inside the building, we've built something people don't leave. Our Rhino isn't just a mascot — it's how we operate: thick skin, forward motion, and nobody left to figure things out alone. We promote from within as a matter of practice, we put real hours and real money behind developing our people long after onboarding ends, and we celebrate wins loudly. If you've spent time somewhere that talks about culture without funding it, this will feel different.
What You’ll Do

  • Assess creditworthiness using income, credit history, credit score, debt-to-income ratio, and payment habits
  • Find approvals for difficult credit through lenders, HELOC programs, credit unions, and non-traditional finance companies
  • Serve as the credit and financing resource for all Sales Design Consultants during sales appointment hours
  • Advise Sales Leadership and Design Consultants on the most suitable credit option for each customer's needs and budget
  • Support budget reviews and resolve affordability questions the field can't answer alone
  • Ensure complete and accurate submission of all financial documents, including lender stipulations, so job progress isn't delayed
  • Approve credit requests while factoring in dealer fees, buy-downs, and risk fees to optimize company profitability
  • Partner with our QA and Rehash teams on creative and "open to buy" financing that expands project scope
  • Conduct virtual finance resells with customers under contract to find better terms for both the homeowner and Improveit
  • Monitor and report on lender portfolio performance — approval rates, fees, submission volume, and program availability
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve credit issues and disputes
  • Train Market Leaders and Sales Design Consultants on financing products and every program change
  • Stay current on trends and regulations in the home improvement industry and the credit market

What You’ll Bring
Required

  • College degree, or recent equivalent experience in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of proven Consumer Finance or Sales Management experience
  • Prior experience communicating directly with consumers
  • Prior experience facilitating training
  • Prior experience leading a team
  • Prior experience interacting with all levels of an organization, including executive management

What Makes You Great At This:

  • Real familiarity with consumer lending processes and strong financial acumen
  • Sound judgment under time pressure with varying degrees of information
  • Serious attention to detail — a mis-keyed stipulation costs a family their install date
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly with lender partners
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort presenting to a room
  • Skill in conflict resolution and reaching agreement
  • The ability to build rapport and trust quickly with homeowners and field teams
  • Proactive time management and organization
  • A working understanding of how an in-home sales process operates

What We Offer:

  • Highly Competitive Compensation + Lucrative Bonus Opportunity
  • Medical and Dental Insurance Options
  • 401k Retirement Savings Plan
  • Paid Vacation and Personal Days
  • Upbeat, Positive Work Environment
  • Career Advancement Options
  • Contests and Fun Culture Initiatives
  • Brand New Offices
  • Fast-paced, Growth-Oriented Workplace
  • Advanced Technology Tools
  • Focus on Work-Life Balance
  • Strong Commitment to Marketing Excellence Across Organization
  • Stability of a 36-yr young Company with the fuel of a rocket ship!
