Summary:

The Cost Estimator will process customer quote requests, review solicitation requirements, collect cost data from various internal and external sources, build compliant pricing models for review, and maintain accurate records.

 Main responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly review customer quote requirements and documents to ensure accurate proposal responses.
  • Work with Account Managers, as well as directly with customers, to resolve questions and open issues pertaining to open quote opportunities.
  • Research via an ERP system: prior sales history, material inventory and cost data, prior production order information, and financial data to support building quotation models.
  • Work with the Purchasing team, as well as directly with vendors, to obtain material quotes as needed.
  • Work cross functionally to drive internal team review of materials, design requirements, and manufacturing processes as needed to support cost estimating.
  • Review cost models with management to establish pricing and obtain the necessary approvals.
  • Support Account Managers with quotation completion estimates and post quotation cost justification activity and validity extensions.
  • Work with Finance team to prepare certified cost and pricing responses and TINA packages.
  • Maintain accurate records and compliant quote files.
  • Maintain an internal quote log tracking quotation history, status of open quotes, quote lead time metrics, award status of completed quotes, etc.
  • Support business forecasting efforts as needed.
  • Support of quote process audits as needed.

 

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Program Management, Purchasing, or other applicable areas.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in either a customer-facing role with quote responsibilities, or in a finance or cost accounting/estimating position.
  • Experience in an Aerospace and Defense manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Excel/Word). Advanced user of Excel desired.
  • Prior experience using an ERP/MRP system preferred. LN INFOR background bonus.
  • Experience with Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Requirements, and Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) Regulations would be a bonus.
