Virtual Engineering Consultant information

What is a virtual engineering consultant?

A Virtual Engineering Consultant remotely provides expert engineering advice, design solutions, and technical analysis to clients across various industries. They use digital tools, simulation software, and virtual collaboration platforms to support projects without being physically present. Responsibilities may include system optimization, troubleshooting, feasibility studies, and process improvements. This role allows companies to access specialized engineering expertise flexibly and cost-effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual engineering consultant?

To thrive as a Virtual Engineering Consultant, you need a solid engineering background, problem-solving expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects remotely, often supported by an engineering degree and relevant industry certifications. Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms, CAD software, cloud-based project management tools, and virtual communication systems like Zoom or Microsoft Teams is commonly required. Strong interpersonal communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are vital soft skills, as are client management and effective teamwork in virtual settings. These competencies enable consultants to deliver high-quality solutions, build client trust, and maintain productivity while working remotely.

What are some typical challenges faced by virtual engineering consultants, and how can they be managed?

Virtual Engineering Consultants often face challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, ensuring clear communication with clients and team members remotely, and managing project timelines without in-person oversight. Overcoming these hurdles typically involves strong organizational skills, regular virtual meetings, and the effective use of digital collaboration tools. Being proactive in communication, setting clear expectations, and maintaining detailed documentation can help drive project success. Many employers also provide onboarding and access to IT support to facilitate a smooth remote workflow.

Job Title: Lead Tosca Service Virtualization Consultant (POC Lead)

Position Type: Contract-to-Contract (C2C)

Location: Las Vegas, NV (100% Onsite)

Experience Level: Senior / Lead (5+ years in Test Automation & Architecture)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Tosca Service Virtualization Consultant to drive a critical Proof of Concept (POC) and lead the initial implementation for a key client engagement. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical subject matter expert defining the virtualization strategy, architecting the baseline framework, and demonstrating immediate value to client leadership.

You will lead a focused team of QA engineers to design, build, and deploy high-value virtual services that systematically remove environment dependencies and eliminate testing bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the POC: Scope, design, and execute a standalone Proof of Concept using Tosca OSV to validate performance baselines, reduce test environment downtime, and quantify project ROI.

  • Architecture & Strategy: Define and deploy the overall virtualization framework, including capturing, modeling, and deploying active "Service Ports" and stateful message simulations.

  • Team Leadership & Standards: Direct and mentor a small team of automation/QA engineers managing daily tasks, enforcing technical standards, conducting peer reviews, and establishing clean naming conventions.

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with client-side DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, and Business teams to discover missing API endpoints, interpret backend payloads, and map end-to-end system dependencies.

  • CI/CD Integration: Seamlessly integrate mock and virtualized services into the client s DevSecOps pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.) to support continuous testing.

Key Technical Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Test Automation and Architecture.

  • 2 3+ years of dedicated, deep technical expertise specifically in Tricentis Tosca OSV / Service Virtualization.

  • Advanced mastery of Tosca API Scan to trace tokens, handle complex state correlations, and construct chained virtual endpoints.

  • Strong background in environment management, shift-left testing methodologies, and containerized deployments (Docker / Kubernetes).

  • Proven track record of architecting scalable mock frameworks and presenting technical outcomes directly to enterprise stakeholders.

Working Conditions & Application
  • Work Setup: Onsite presence in Las Vegas, NV is mandatory for the duration of this engagement.

  • Engagement Type: C2C (Corp-to-Corp) candidates preferred.
