Job description

Special Education Teacher (Early Childhood Center)

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to join an Early Childhood Center serving Pre-K students for the 2026-2027 school year. The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to students with special needs. This role requires collaboration with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success through individualized instruction and intervention.

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher is committed to active team participation in the planning and implementation of student programs, including specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.

Assignment Details
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Amergisum 7.5 hours per day)
  • Contract Length: 36 weeks
  • Openings: 2
  • Grade Level: Pre-K
  • Classroom Assignment
  • Approximate Classroom Size: 25 students
  • Behavioral Support Level: Low
  • Medical Support Level: Level 2
  • Virtual interviews required
  • Opportunity for additional support during Extended School Year (ESY) programming
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs)
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
  • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, district, or contractual requirements
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred
  • Standard Elementary Teaching Certification preferred
  • Standard Secondary Teaching Certification preferred
  • Standard Special Education Teaching Certification preferred
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
  • Must comply with all professional standards of practice
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if required
  • Current health certificate, if required by contract or state regulation
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
