Schedule

  • Part-time (3-4 days per week to start)
  • 4-hour, 6-hour, and 8-hour shifts
  • Monday-Sunday flexibility (weekend availability is highly preferred) 
Responsibilities:

As a Personal Assistant & Companion Caregiver for TheKey, you will provide 1:1 support that blends meaningful companionship with practical personal assistant duties in the client’s home and community:

  • Companionship & Social Engagement: Provide friendly companionship, conversation, games, puzzles, and emotional support. Accompany clients to social events, stores, outings, and appointments.
  • Personal Assistant Duties: Help organize calendars, schedule appointments, make plans and follow through, run errands, and assist with grocery shopping.
  • Light Housekeeping: Perform basic cleaning, laundry, organizing, and other tasks to help keep the household running smoothly.
  • Transportation: Drive clients safely to appointments, social activities, stores, and errands (valid driver’s license and auto insurance required).
  • Mobility Support: Provide light transfer and mobility assistance as needed.
  • Communication: Act as a reliable point of contact with excellent communication skills to coordinate with family members and other care team members.

This role starts with a strong focus on companionship and personal assistance but offers opportunities for growth into memory care as client needs evolve. Each client’s needs are unique, so duties may be tailored to the specific situation while always prioritizing dignity, respect, and quality of life.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal Candidates will have previous experience in caregiving/companion roles, strong personal assistant or household management skills, a compassionate heart, and a proactive, organized approach.
  • Experience supporting elderly clients with behavioral challenges or psychiatric conditions (preferred)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • HCA Registration with the State of California (we can help you obtain this upon hire) including meeting state background requirements
  • Valid driver’s license, with access to a fully insured personal vehicle 
  • TB Clearance or Chest X-Ray
