Educational Associate - Special Education
Location: Edina High School | Status: Non-Exempt | Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am -3:15pm | Days: Student contact days only
Position Summary:
With the focus to support and advance the Edina Public Schools' mission, vision, and core values, the Educational Associate for Special Education assists teachers and supports students with academic, social, motor, behavioral, health, life skills, and other functional tasks. Educational Associates for Special Education work one-on-one and with small groups of students in the areas of instructional reinforcement and student support and learning assistance.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree or at least two years of post-secondary education (a minimum of 60 semester credits), or a passing score on the ParaPro assessment
  • Experience working with students
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Strong communication skills

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: The wage for this position ranges from $23.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates will start at the entry-level rate of $23.00 per hour. However, candidates with prior work experience in a related field may be eligible for a starting rate of up to $23.70 per hour. For those with direct experience in this specific role, the starting rate may exceed $23.70 per hour, depending on their qualifications and experience. These decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, in consideration of the individual's experience and the school district's budget.
Benefits: Edina Public Schools provides eligible employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as flexible spending plans. All employees participate in the state's largest pension program, the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). In addition, employees can participate in the 403(b) retirement program, with eligibility for a district match based on the terms and conditions outlined in the employee work agreement. Eligible employees also receive paid time off in accordance with the provisions outlined in the employee work agreement.
