VIRTUAL MECHANIC DESIGNER

Location: Newark, DE

Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time Virtual Designer for our Custom Home Division.

The Virtual Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing efficient, code-compliant HVAC, Hydronic, and Plumbing systems for custom residential and select commercial construction projects. This role works closely with internal teammates as well as external design firms, architects, engineers, and builders to develop high-performing mechanical system designs. The designer supports projects from conception through completion, collaborating with project teams to ensure systems are practical, constructible, and aligned with industry standards and technologies. This role utilizes AutoCAD and Revit to design residential and commercial HVAC systems, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems, including associated pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, and other mechanical components.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required
  • Program knowledge of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, Revit, Procore.
  • Thorough understanding of current AutoCAD and Revit design standards, including the ability to clean up CAD drawing files; strong knowledge of layer structure, mechanical drawings, detail setup, and end-to-end design processes.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite Products (Word, Excel, Outlook), and preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and calendar entries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and build strong, professional working relationships.
  • Working knowledge of current mechanical and plumbing codes, local ordinances, and requirements of Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
