Job Purpose:

The Virtual Banker is responsible for providing comprehensive relationship and portfolio management for an assigned group of business customers. This role serves as the primary point of contact for existing client relationships and is accountable for portfolio health, credit quality, client experience, and revenue growth. The position balances proactive portfolio administration—including loan and deposit oversight, renewals, and risk management—with defined sales expectations focused on expanding existing relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering value-added financial solutions through a predominantly virtual engagement model.

Job Duties:

  • Directly manage an assigned portfolio of business customers, including business term loans, commercial real estate loans, lines of credit, and business deposit relationships.
  • Proactively manage portfolio performance through delinquency monitoring, outbound client contact, and coordination with Credit Administration and internal partners.
  • Manage loan maturities to ensure timely renewals, extensions, and required documentation in accordance with bank policy.
  • Facilitate loan modifications and portfolio adjustments within approved credit guidelines.
  • Oversee depository overdraft management for assigned accounts.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to minimize risk, reduce delinquency, and ensure compliance with bank and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain current and accurate borrower financial information, including business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
  • Generate incremental loan, deposit, and fee revenue by expanding existing client relationships and meeting established individual sales goals.
  • Identify need-based sales opportunities and cross-sell appropriate bank products and services, including treasury/cash management, merchant services, insurance, investment, and retail referrals.
  • Execute an individual business plan aligned to production, activity, and portfolio growth expectations.
  • Actively utilize the CRM system to manage client relationships, document interactions, and track sales activity.
  • Partner with Retail Branch associates and internal specialists to support coordinated relationship strategies and sales efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal departments to negotiate, process, and complete loan and depository documentation.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business or commercial banking or lending.
  • Demonstrated experience with loan renewals, portfolio management, deposit growth and client relationship oversight.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and tax returns.
  • Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities within an existing client base.
  • Proven ability to balance portfolio risk management with revenue growth objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while collaborating effectively with internal partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; experience with Salesforce, and loan systems (e.g., nCino) preferred.
  • Proven judgement, discretion, and decision-making skills.
  • Team Player.
  • Valid Driver’s license; limited travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business or commercial banking or lending.
  • Demonstrated experience with loan renewals, portfolio management, deposit growth and client relationship oversight.
  • Valid Driver’s license: limited travel may be required.
