South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) is a tuition-free, K-12 online public school. The school was launched in 2008-09 under contract to the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School. SCCA is South Carolina's very first virtual charter school, authorized by the Erskine Charter School District. The school serves students in grades K-12 from anywhere in South Carolina.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
Working from home in the state of South Carolina, this Counseling Specialist is responsible for supporting our counseling services activities, including daily administrative tasks, assisting with scheduling and Transcript entry, supporting College and Career initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Answer Counseling Department phones and webmails;
  • Support Counseling Department projects and activities;
  • Input High School Transcripts, which includes course entry for new enrolling students, dual enrolled students, and summer school students;
  • Complete course scheduling for new enrolling high school students;
  • Enter data into our online student information system;
  • Generate reports and fulfill Transcript requests;
  • Support College and Career efforts with student and family outreach;
  • Assist Parents, Students, and School Staff; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with school age students
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication

Relevant Previous Experience / Knowledge:
  • School Counseling Master's Degree preferred
  • South Carolina High School Counseling experience
  • Student Record Services: Parchment, PowerSchool
