Who You Are:
The Risk Associate will play a key role in coordinating across data center disciplines to identify, assess, report, and mitigate risks across the full lifecycle of data center assets. This role requires a holistic understanding of the range of risks that may arise across disciplines of a large data center business including procurement, construction, operations, finance and the ability to partner cross-functionally to ensure resilient, compliant, and efficient project delivery and operations.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead lifecycle risk management across data center projects, identifying, tracking, and mitigating risks from site selection through operations while maintaining up-to-date risk registers and embedding best practices across teams.
  • Partner cross-functionally with development, construction, engineering, finance, and operations to proactively identify and address risks early in project planning and execution.
  • Evaluate and manage risks across pre-construction, procurement, and construction phases, including site, permitting, supply chain, contractor performance, schedule, and cost exposures.
  • Support operational risk management for live environments, including uptime, security, infrastructure reliability, and business continuity/disaster recovery planning.
  • Assist with insurance placement, claims, and compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, SOC, NIST) and supporting audits across lifecycle phases.
  • Analyze financial and market risks in collaboration with finance, including budgeting considerations and risk mitigation strategies such as hedging.
  • Produce risk reports, dashboards, and insights for leadership while driving continuous improvement of risk frameworks, tools, and long-term mitigation strategies.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience in risk, project management, construction, infrastructure, or operations (data center or mission-critical environment preferred)
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, NIST, ISO 31000)
  • Basic understanding of data center infrastructure (power, cooling, redundancy) and development lifecycle
  • Highly entrepreneurial spirit - ability to operate with minimal guidance and a strong ownership mindset to deliver results
  • Deep working knowledge of financial, technology, and infrastructure risks
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to translate complex operational risks into succinct data points for decision-makers

  • Knowledge of construction risk, contract risk, and vendor management
