We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. POSITION SUMMARY

The Infrastructure Analyst supports the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Whitecap's enterprise server, virtualization, storage, backup, and endpoint infrastructure across a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment. This is a junior to intermediate role suited to an analyst who is building depth across Nutanix, Windows Server, storage, and backup platforms. Working under the guidance of senior team members, the successful candidate will handle day-to-day operational tasks, participate in projects, and grow into more complex infrastructure work overtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Operations & Administration

  • Administer and support Nutanix AHV virtualization, including provisioning virtual machines, monitoring cluster health through Prism, and assisting with host maintenance and patching.

  • Assist with the management of enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NetApp ONTAP), including provisioning, snapshot policies, and routine performance monitoring.

  • Support the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment, helping to maintain stability, performance, and a good end-user experience.

  • Administer Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, under the direction of senior analysts.

Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Support Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, monitoring jobs and helping ensure backup SLAs are met.

  • Perform routine backup and restore operations for files, mailboxes, and VM snapshots as required.

  • Assist with disaster recovery testing and documentation.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine operational tasks such as patching, provisioning, and reporting.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost across infrastructure platforms.

  • Monitor infrastructure health and capacity using tools such as Nutanix Prism, NetApp ActiveIQ, and other NMS tooling.

Security & Compliance

  • Support endpoint security tooling in collaboration with the Cybersecurity team (e.g., CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Intune).

  • Help maintain secure configurations and timely patching of server and virtualization infrastructure.

  • Assist with decommissioning legacy platforms and reducing the attack surface (e.g., phasing out end-of-life OS versions).

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Provide escalation support to the Help Desk on infrastructure-related issues.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Cybersecurity, Application Support) to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Document procedures, runbooks, and architecture diagrams in the IT knowledge base (e.g., Hudu).

Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure

  • Support Entra ID (Azure AD) integrations and hybrid identity configurations.

  • Participate in cloud readiness and migration activities for workloads transitioning to Azure or AWS.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or IT operations roles, including hands-on administration of server and virtualization platforms.

  • Working knowledge of virtualization (Nutanix AHV an asset) and Windows Server administration.

  • Exposure to enterprise storage (NetApp ONTAP an asset) and backup platforms (Veeam an asset).

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows patching.

  • Some scripting ability with PowerShell, or a strong willingness to develop it.

  • Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry or other critical infrastructure environments.

  • Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

  • Familiarity with identity and access management tools (e.g., ManageEngine ADManager, ADAudit).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid cloud architectures.

CERTIFICATIONS

The following certifications are considered assets:

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure fundamentals certifications

  • Nutanix Certified Associate (NCA) or Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)

  • Citrix Certified Associate (CCA)

  • NetApp ONTAP certifications (e.g., Cluster Fundamentals)

  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Azure equivalent

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office-based in Calgary, AB with occasional travel to field locations as required.

  • Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours infrastructure support.

  • Occasional work outside of regular business hours for maintenance windows and project deployments.
