Job description

MATC Group, Inc. is a respected provider of technical writing, instructional design, and knowledge management services; proudly serving industries including health care, legal, software, manufacturing, financial services, IT, and telecom since 2009. We’re recognized for an analytical, results-driven approach and a consistent track record of delivering strong outcomes.
We’re looking for an instructional designer who brings both solid learning design fundamentals and a strong creative eye. You can look at a course, storyboard, or deck and quickly tell what’s working, what isn’t, and how to improve it - structure, flow, visuals, interactions, and clarity. You’re comfortable taking existing content and elevating it into training that feels intentional, modern, and learner-centered. If this doesn't sound like you, then you will not succeed in this role.
What you’ll do:
• Design and develop engaging learning experiences across formats (eLearning, virtual, and instructor-led).
• Create or re-design training content to improve clarity, usability, and learning impact.
• Apply learning design best practices (adult learning, objectives, assessment alignment, chunking, practice, feedback).
• Review content and prototypes with a quality-focused design lens; identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve.
• Partner with subject matter experts to research, shape, and validate content.
• Turn complex material into training that’s easy to follow and action-oriented.
• Build supporting media and learning assets (audio, video, basic simulations, role plays, knowledge checks, interactive elements).
• Develop learning deliverables in multiple engaging formats and recommend the right approach for the audience.
• Manage work to agreed effort and schedule; communicate progress and risks clearly.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of templates, design standards, and course aesthetics.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements:
• 4+ years of experience in instructional design and/or eLearning development.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate learning materials and improve them (structure, visuals, interaction design, accessibility, and overall learner experience).
• Experience working with SMEs to plan, develop, and refine training content.
• Proficiency with Articulate 360 Storyline and the Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Word).
• Strong writing and editing skills; ability to simplify complex ideas without losing accuracy.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Nice to have:
• Consulting-based instructional design experience or work across multiple internal stakeholders/clients.
• Experience with additional tools: Rise, Camtasia, SnagIt, Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Lectora, Visio, Acrobat, etc.
• Comfort applying or collaborating on basic visual design standards (layout, typography, consistency, branding).
• Familiarity with accessibility practices (WCAG-minded design, captions, alt text, color contrast).
The ideal candidate:
You’re a hands-on creator who can build and critique. You enjoy making learning look and feel better - clean layouts, purposeful interactions, and a clear story from start to finish. You’re pragmatic, collaborative with SMEs, and comfortable shifting between projects and industries while maintaining quality and polish.
This is a remote position.
