IMEG is hiring a Virtual Design Coordinator (BIM Specialist) in Germantown, MD to oversee and manage Building Information Modeling, BIM, projects across all disciplines and serve as a main point of contact for BIM-related questions and concerns for the project team and clients. This role supports client needs and coordinated project delivery with a focus on mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.

In this role, you will work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, contractors and owners to identify BIM requirements and develop project-specific BIM protocols and standards. May help standardize BIM and Virtual Design workflows across offices and teams. You will support government, municipal, and science and technology projects while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and manage Building Information Modeling, BIM, projects across all disciplines and serve as a main point of contact for BIM-related questions and concerns for the project teams and clients.
  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors and owners to meet project goals and client expectations.
  • Review effectiveness and validate current standards and procedures.
  • Lead and attend project meetings with clients and consultants, including BIM project kickoff meetings and project progress meetings.
  • Identify and lead team specific training and education needs for standards and BIM/Virtual Design tools and stay up to date with BIM technology and trends.
  • Communicate with the project manager to determine model setup configuration and understand project scope requirements.
  • Manage project folder organization, file sharing, and file archival between IMEG disciplines and all external partners.
  • Provide team specific support for Virtual Design software/programs, escalating as needed.
  • Review working models and PDF deliverables for compliance with modeling and documentation standards, and complete model maintenance applying best practices and standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues, run clash detection reports, resolve clashes, and participate in the BIM coordination process.
  • Coordinate models and workflow between members of the design team and follow established standards for modeling and production of drawings of quality acceptable to the company.
  • Work with contractors and clients during the construction phase of projects to ensure models are constructed according to BIM models. May include use of 3D imagery technology.

What You'll Bring

Required Experience

  • 4 years of experience minimum, 5 preferred, or equivalent
  • Revit experience required

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong Revit knowledge with emphasis on project setup and model management
  • Ability to troubleshoot Revit/design software issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of colleagues and clients
  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • High level of professionalism

Preferred

  • Associate degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) preferred
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans and models preferred

State of Maryland Salary Range: $71,000 - $98,000

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
